GRUMPY JUDGES THIS WEEK ON SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE

I'm sorry but that's the way I saw it.  The judges were extra grumpy this week, especially Mia Michaels.  I loved the new hairdo, but I was frustrated with her that she seemed to pick out a couple of select favorites to dote over and harshly criticized the rest.  My goodness Mia, it's only the second week for goodness sake!  Maybe your expectations are way too high for this early in the season.

 

Top 8 Girls:  COMFORT, KOURTNI, COURTNEY, SUSIE, CHELSIE, CHELSEA, KHERINGTON, NATALIE, and KATEE.

 

Top 8 Guys:  JOSHUA, TWITCH, MATT, MARQUIS, MARTIN, THAYNE, CHRIS, WILLIAM, and GEV.

 

Chelsea & Thayne performed a jazz routine.  I thought the routine was a bit strange but I definitely enjoyed it more than the judges did.

 

Chelsie & Mark performed a tango.  I felt like it was lacking something.  Passion maybe?  But the footwork was unbelievable.

 

Jessica & Will performed hip-hop.  I love these two dancers but I was bored with the routine that was choreographed for them.  I felt they got short-changed so I refuse to put them into my bottom two.  I want them to stay around for a long long time.

 

Kourtni & Matt performed a foxtrot.  This couple may have been in the bottom three last week but they were brilliant tonight.  I enjoyed watching every single step!  THIS Mary was NOT disappointed!!!

 

Courtney & Gev performed a contemporary number.  I loved loved loved the choreography.  This dance brought tears to my eyes.  I believe dancing is just like acting.  It is meant to touch the soul of the audience and this certainly did it for me!  I have no clue what Nigel was talking about when he said it lacked emotion.  What?????????????

 

Katee & Joshua performed a Broadway number.  These two just don't disappoint do they?  What an adorable performance.  Evidently the judges agreed with me because all three of them gave this couple a standing O.

 

Susie & Marquis performed a salsa routine.  I didn't feel like they really pulled it off.  The steps were there but it seemed to lack that latino element that I just love watching during a salsa dance. Evidently the judges agreed as all three of them criticized this couple harshly.

 

Kherington &Twitch performed a contemporary piece.  It was beautiful and elegant and classy.  I think Twitch outdid himself on this one!  Kherington is just gorgeous isn't she?

 

Comfort & Chris did the crump.  It was awful and painful to watch.  The choreography was disappointing and the dancing was even worse.   This couple was in my bottom two last week and they're in the same place this week.

 

My top three this week are Katee & Joshua, Kourtni & Matt, and Courtney & Gev.  

 

The couples at risk in my opinion are Comfort & Chris as well as Susie & Marquis.
