TotalPopStar.com is the latest in online reality shows. With the growth of Reality Television over the years many internet sites have popped up offering visitors the opportunity to get their 15 minutes of fame. One of the websites we came across is www.TotalPopStar.com, where all you need is a computer and some raw talent. “Two and a half years ago we were developing some artists and being that my passion is music we decided to make a cross between American Idol and Youtube.com” said Andrew Van Slee the executive producer and judge. Basically contestants are judged by the public and if they are elected to the top ten or finals, judges such as Van Slee, Joey Lawrence and Deborah Gibson will have the final say crowing one as the winner. When I visited their website it seemed very easy to upload a video and from the looks of it the more friends and family you have vote for you the more your rankings go up. We also had an opportunity to speak with some of the cast for TotalPopStar.com and here’s what they had to say:


Jason, (RealityWanted.com): Richard, what made you choose to be the host on TotalPopStar?

Richard Wagner, Co-Host (TotalPopStar): I have been working with Andrew for years and he asked me if I want to host and I said sure.

Jason, (RealityWanted.com): How did you find the other judges for the show?

Andrew, Executive producer/Judge (TotalPopStar): We hired a casting director (Jeff) to find the other great judges. We brought on Joey Lawrence and Deborah Gibson because we wanted to have a panel that interacted well but had their own opinions.

Jason, (RealityWanted.com): Ashlee thanks for taking the time with us today, how did you end up as the co-host for the show?

Ashlee Noel, Co-Host (TotalPopStar): They ended up doing a 4 city search looking for someone that would mesh with Richard. I auditioned and got the spot. “Being there from the beginning is pretty exciting”.

Joey Lawrence also spoke with us and here’s what he had to say:

Jason, (RealityWanted.com): So how did you end up on TotalPopStar?

Joey Lawrence, Judge (TotalPopStar): They called me up and it seemed like the next logical step for me. I have a lot of experience in acting and singing but I was looking to try something different and here it is. The site is so easy for people to use, all they have to do is upload their video and promote themselves to the public. After the public picks the final 10 for us, Deborah Gibson and I will narrow it down to the final winner. We are both excited to be a part of this experience and look forward to seeing it grow.
