In an interview with John Cena, Reality Wanted gets the details on AMERICAN GRIT, hosted by Cena and what the show is all about. The WWE legend is really a jack of all trades, and as a huge supporter of our military and veterans, it was only natural for him to host a reality competition among civilians being mentored by some of our military heroes.

In the first episode, Hollywood trainer Chris ultimately lost the challenge and was eliminated. Before the circus challenge, we saw John Cena have a conversation with Chris about being respectful to his mentor Tee. We asked Cena about the symbolism of Chris's elimination and he said, "I think what you saw in the first episode was a testament to what the show is. The show is about heart," he adds, "American Grit is about heart because the final test, and each week it will, although the tests look different, it will be different, the word will be the same; endurance."

While some viewers may have been pleased to see Chris leave, in the big picture, "I still feel, myself, that Chris could have benefited from more time on the show," Cena says.

It's clear that Cena is very passionate about this new series and proud! "I was really happy with the turnout of episode one," Cena says, "But, man, what a statement it makes and that's what I like most about the show, there is no typical mold for success. It's all about digging deep and finding something inside yourself that you didn't know you had."

We weren't sure what to expect from AMERICAN GRIT, but we were just as pleased after watching the first episode. AMERICAN GRIT airs on Thursdays at 9pm ET on FOX.
