The Top 12 performed tonight and amazing artist Reba joined the show as a mentor. Some of the contestants were huge fans of hers and were so excited that she was helping them with their performance. The artists had to really bring it because at this point in the competition, it's all up to America.
Hannah Kirby opened the show with "On the Edge of Seventeen" by Stevie Nicks. Pharrell said that her performance made everyone now see the artist that she really is, meaning that it was a breakout performance for her. Her set was just the start of amazing performances.
India chose a contemporary song that's been on the Billboard for some time now, Hozier's "Take Me to Church". Her performance was so convincing, she made Blake want to go to church! She really picked the perfect song for her deep, throaty, voice.
Adam made a surprising choice for Deanna this week. He gave her "Oceans (Where Feet May Fail)" by Hillsong. It's a Christian song, and one of my current favorites, but I didn't think it really suited her voice. Maybe I'm just too tied to the original. There were technical difficulties in the beginning of her performance, but she still did well.
Sawyer performed another one of my favorites John Lennon's "Imagine". He stripped it down, acoustic style and he sounded amazing. Adam commented that the way he fills the room with his voice transcends any kind of coaching and that what he has is natural. One thing is for sure, there isn't anyone else like him in the competition.
Meghan Linsey is one of my all time favorites in the competition. She performed "Girl Crush" by Little Big Town. I've never heard the song before, and the lyrics were quite begging and pathetic, but she killed it! I've never heard it before, and it made me want to download it on iTunes, sappy lyrics and all.
Kimberly had a breakout performance last week with "What's Up" so she made it a tough act to follow. She closed out the night with House of the Rising Sun. HEr performance was electrifying and it gave me chills. That girl can BLOW!! She's definitely headed to the Top 3! Blake said that they have to start talking about the possibility that Christina may win her first season of The Voice.
