This season's third episode of the Amazing Race, started off with nothing more than a sure test of patience. The couples had to catch a cab from Tokyo and make their ways to the airport to head to their next destination, Phucket, Thailand. The most frustrating part about getting out of Tokyo, was trying to catch an available flight in the middle of the night. Determined to make the next challenge, all of the couples had to wait until the next day to catch an available flight. Frustrated due to all of the flights being too full to fly them out, veteran couple, Harley Rodriguez and Jonathan Knight had to start behind and wait one more day to be flown out.
Upon arrival, the couples had to discover their next clues by identifying the correct selfie stick that held the key to their next challenge for them. It would lead them straight to Patong beach, Thailand, where they would rest, have breakfast, and decide on which obstacle they would choose between water skiing, or delivering food from one side of the forest to the other, on a zip line.
All of the couples struggled with both of the challenges especially the water skiing competition, but could not move onto the last challenge until either one of the two courses were completed. The final challenge consisted of the couples going to MyWay Cabaret and dressing up in drag to learn the choreography of a dance and performing it live in front of an audience. Whoever completed and performed the dance the most efficiently in the race, would leave and make their way to the finish line.
Tired of suffering defeat, Rochelle and Michael would go on to win the challenge and remain safe from elimination. Overwhelmed with joy and such positive energy within the group, hairstylist Matt Cucolo, got on one knee and popped the big question to his girlfriend, Ashley Gordon, where they would become engaged. Unable to finish in time to capture the moment, Harley and his partner, Jonathan, finished a tad bit too late in last place. However, they were fortunate that this was a non-elimination round so they will have a chance to redeem themselves on next week's episode of the Amazing Race.
