WOW! We're only at episode 2 and Survivor: Worlds Apart is already throwing punches and dropping blindsides! Welcome back to the realest Survivor Blog in all the land, where like Shirin, I agree "It's super convenient to be naked a lot of the time." So if you're currently in your birthday suite, we accept you... but maybe just leave it out of the comments for now.
We've got an hour of primetime television to cover, so if you're ready, lets get down and dirty with this episode's top 5 takeaways!
1. Dan Lost His Underwear
Probably the highlight of the episode, Survivor opens informing America that Dan will officially be commando for the rest of the season. As a tribe member, this may seem like the first sign of a blue collar apocalypse, however for the rest of us, this is a gift from the heavens. Dan will now be much more covered with his shirt.
2. A Naked Epidemic
In the corporate world, one may not expect to see a Media Consultant and Yahoo Executive drop their drawers at work, but in the Survivor world, all bets (or should I say clothes) are off.
Since it's Thursday, lets throw it back the glory days of season 1, when America was blessed with the nudity of Richard Hatch. Now, in season 30, the Masaya tribe is calling Max "Hatch 2.0." But in all fairness, going naked only makes you 50% Hatch. There's still game to be made and before Max takes that title, he'll have to slither to the end and eat a bunch of rats, #tbt to Sue Hawk.
3. Nargarote Nonsense
First we have Nina. Rightfully so, she feels isolated from her tribe because her lack of hearing creates a communication barrier. In a game where social gameplay is the foundation of survival, it's an extreme disadvantage. HOWEVER, Nina needs to keep her emotions in check because unfortunately she can't afford another marker against her.
At Nargarote, Nina sparks an argument between her and Jenn for not getting invited to go skinny dipping. First off, WHY IS EVERYONE NAKED? LITERALLY EVERYONE. You are being filmed by an entire camera crew. Are they naked too? Are the producers naked? Is Jeff at camp and is he naked? Something's happening and I don't get it. It makes me question if Dan really lost his drawers. Anyway, although I'm sure Nina wouldn't have gone swimming with the girls, I understand where she's coming from. BUT KEEP IT TOGETHER WOMAN.
As for Vince, he's all flustered because he can't have a decent embrace with Joe. What a struggle this world of Survivor is!
4. Shooting For Immunity
Here we go again. It's White Collar v. Blue Collar v. No Collar in a physical battle for tribal immunity. Teams must individually navigate a buoy through a water-based rope course and then shoot 5 buoys into a basket.
Kelly surprisingly sits out for the Blue Collars leaving a less physical Dan to compete in an all-physical challenge. At first I questioned the decision, but Dan brought his A-game, being the first to complete the buoy course. As for Kelly, she's been irrelevant all season.
In the end, the No Collars lost the lead when Will struggled through the ropes. I'm guessing Will never came through with those sandwiches because he seemed on the verge of the death in that water. Then when it came to shooting basket, Joe missed every shot and could not make up the lead, sending the tribe to tribal council.
5. A Nina for Your Thoughts
Back at camp it's a bit crazy, so here's the rundown of events:
Joe, Jenn and Hali are a united trio targeting Nina. However, they try to persuade Will to vote with them and split the vote between Vince and Nina in the off chance one of them were to have an idol.
Vince and Nina are a united duo and they need Will to vote with them to get out Jenn. HOWEVER, Nina-bo-Bina was banana-fana fo-idiotic telling Will that VINCE (not herself) is worried about Will's health moving forward. If there could be one WTF moment this episode, it'd be that.
In the end, Will voted for Vince, solidifying him a boot off the tribe and dishing yet another blindside of the season. So's elimination was a little more expected last week, but I felt this one came out of left field.
For now, out of respect for Vince, lets all take a moment to embrace our closest friend for a minimum of 10 seconds, and end the hug with a nice sniff. It's what Vince would want.
Were you surprised by Vince's exit and do you thing Will made the right choice? Sound off below!
