Paradise Lost and Found

Kendra has gotten Hank to agree to couples therapy. But what's being said isn't what she's wanting to hear. Apparently her reactions keep him in fear of opening up to her. The therapist feels that Hank has gone through an identity crisis due to the ending of his football career and now Kendra feels that she has been insensitive to his changes. She's noticing red flags in their marriage that she hadn't picked up on before. It still sounds a lot like victim blaming. But if this is what it takes for Hank to finally admit what actually happened, it may be what she needs to suffer through to get to that point.

In order to change and grow, Kendra has decided that visiting her father is the first step. Looking for at least one man in her life to give her some answers, Kendra flies to Costa Rica to visit her father who she hasn't seen in 20 years (leaving her children at home with Hank). She's hoping he will give her his reasoning for leaving their family so long ago, and looking for a little peace to be made. Since her mother doesn't know about the visit, it could be assumed that another mother/daughter meltdown is imminent.

Make Room for Daddy

The last Kendra remembers of her father was his departure when she was 5 years old. She is now in Costa Rica to see him again for the first time in 20 years. You'd think it would be a little awkward, but before words are even spoken they are embracing each other. But where do you start? She doesn't know what he knows, how much does he keep up with via media? In reality, it doesn't matter... she just wants to breathe him in and feel the realness. You can tell how thrilled she is by the sheer amount of Kendra giggles.

A bumpy road to his humble abode just to prove that his abode is anything but humble. It makes you wonder why she's staying at a hotel when he has so much room. Better to take things slowly, I suppose.

Now it's time to get real. Daddy asks about hubby. Kendra tells him that she believes the rumors because Hank isn't fighting. He tells her any decision she makes right now affects the rest of their lives and tells her that getting through it is the best way out. Eric, her father, suggests that maybe she could bring the whole family to Costa Rica, Hank included but for Kendra maybe it's a little too much too fast. She's here for other answers anyways. What it all boils down to is everyone is doing the best they can. That's all Kendra needed in order to forgive.
