Last week I spoke with Jeff Sherid a contestant on SPIKE TV's new CSI type reality show airing Tuesday nights on SPIKE TV. Spike TV's new unscripted series, "Murder," follows real people as they try to solve a real homicide pulled directly from police files. Produced by reality innovator Bunim-Murray Productions, this compelling and all-too-real alternative series premieres on Tuesday, July 31 (10:00 11:00 PM, ET/PT on Spike TV.

Q. Mark - RealityWanted.com: How did you get involved with the show?

A. Jeff Sherid: A friend of mine told me about it and thought I would be a good fit for the show.

Q. Mark - RealityWanted.com: How much training did you guys have prior to setting out to solve the murder?

A. Jeff Sherid: It was a very short amount of time. I got there Wednesday and we started filming on Thursday. There was a representative from the Los Angeles CSI unit, she went through a demonstration on how to grasp finger prints, etc. We had about 45 minutes to an hour, it was a crash course.

Q. Mark - RealityWanted.com: Talk to me about Tommy La Noire, he really seems to know his craft. We did see him single you out after you focused on the golf club.

A. Jeff Sherid: Jeff: When I met him I really liked him. Later during filming the viewers could see him single me out when I fixated on a golf club being the murder weapon. He really dug into me and I started to lose respect for him. However, I now have the highest respect for Tommy, more than you would ever imagine. Tommy and I talk all the time. I now appreciate his constructive criticism. . Sure I was mad when he singled me out on the show, even thought I deserved it.. I learned so much from him and apply what I learned from him in my daily life. He helped me analyze things better and taught me not to make quick decisions. It was an unbelievable experience and I have tons of respect for him and anyone involved in police work.

Q. Mark - RealityWanted.com: I know there was a cast member of Murder who, after the show has decided to switch gears and become a homicide detective, what about you?

A. Jeff Sherid: It's not for me this is s a brutal job. I would like to know what the heart attack rate is in this business. If you think LA traffic is bad, forget about it, this job is tough. If you watch the episode and see us sitting in the chairs going over the possible scenarios we were exhausted, not physically but mentally.

Q. Mark - RealityWanted.com: So how much time did you have to discuss everything and come up with a decision with your teammates?

A. Jeff Sherid: We worked on it for 48 hours.

Q. Mark - RealityWanted.com: Is it life as usual now or has this changed your life at all?

A. Jeff Sherid: My life is still the same, I still do video editing and production work but when I get into a situation now, before I open my mouth I make sure what I will say makes sense.

Q. Mark - RealityWanted.com: From a viewer's perspective the recreated crime scenes look very real.

A. Jeff Sherid : They looked very real, down to hairs on forearms and finger nails, When you looked at finger nails it wasn't like a fake rubber fingernail it looked like a real finger nail. I give the special effects guys a lot of credit for their work. Even after the blood was cleaned off in the coroner's office you could see the autopsy cuts and they looked real.

Q. Mark - RealityWanted.com: What do you walk away with after this experience and what do you want viewers to get from watching Murder?

A. Jeff Sherid : I walked away with a total new respect for police work and homicide detectives. I never knew how intense and detail oriented their jobs were. Catching a killer is a matter of life and death. I have a new found appreciation for what they do. I had respect before but now it's ten fold. I hope we did a good enough job so viewers can see the same thing. My hats off to anyone in this business.

Q. Mark - RealityWanted.com: Would you have done anything different looking back on how your team went about trying to solve this murder?

A. Jeff Sherid: I wish I hadn't jumped so quickly to conclusions about the murder weapon. That's all I would change. It was all me, I know a lot people act for cameras in reality but what you see from me is what you get. I am a fun person, some say I am cocky I say I am confident. We were in the crime scene for 10-15 minutes and I made a mistake, but we were excited and full of adrenaline. It was a great experience.
