Last Sunday, season 22 of The Amazing Race reached its conclusion in Washington, D.C. Right before the final leg, country singers Caroline Cutbirth and Jennifer Kuhle struggled in a bog snorkeling Road Block in Northern Ireland. They reached the pit stop last and were eliminated just before the final leg. We talked to Caroline today in exclusive interview to take a look back at the season, the relationship with winners Bates and Anthony Battaglia, and what the future holds for her music career.
Q. Gina, RealityWanted: What was the biggest thing you were hoping to gain from running The Amazing Race?
A. Caroline: The opportunity to travel and see the world.
Q. Gina, RealityWanted: You narrowly escaped elimination at the first pit stop in Bora Bora. How worried were you that the race was going to be over for you before you even started?
A. Caroline: I think in that moment, we were so exhausted and desperate to get our of "sandcastle hell" that we weren't thinking about anything. Looking back, it all seems a bit crazy that we would race two country boys and a really strong married team in a canoe building/paddling contest!
Q. Gina, RealityWanted: When I interviewed Pam and Winnie, I asked them why no one was ever targeting Bates and Anthony, given what a strong team they were. They wanted to, but said you talked some teams out of U-Turning them. Would you say that a good social game was one of the ways you were able to help them in the competition?
A. Caroline: You know, we just loved Bates and Anthony. They were our boys. I don't think we intentionally tried to socially help them with the other teams, but I'm sure we did.
Q. Gina, RealityWanted: Is there any real romance going on between you and the hockey players, or was it all in good fun and flirting during the race?
A. Caroline: Oh yes, we are planning a big double wedding this Christmas!
Q. Gina, RealityWanted: You faced fears and completed many difficult tasks throughout the race. Is there a moment that stands out that you're most proud of?
A. Caroline: I think Jen and I are really proud of how we stood by each other during the difficult times. We never hit below the belt and we always encouraged one another.
Q. Gina, RealityWanted: Despite being eliminated right before the final leg, you both seemed very grateful for the experience of being on The Amazing Race. What is your biggest takeaway from it all?
A. Caroline: That the world is an amazing place and people are so good.
Q. Gina, RealityWanted: What's next for you and your music careers?
A. Caroline: We'll see! We are always getting into new adventures, so we are excited to see what is next up for the "Jen and Caroline Show!"
