"Scream Park"

Sylvan Beach Amusement Park - Sylvan Beach, New York

Built in the 1800's on the shores of Lake Oneida, Sylvan Beach Amusement Park was called the "Coney Island" of central New York.  Paranormal activities have been going on for years but it wasn't until recently that the employees started to get concerned.  In fact they were even afraid that bringing in somebody like TAPS could make matters worse.  Former workers have died in the park and some believe their attachment to the park has kept them around for decades.  There are three ghosts that the employees claim to have seen on multiple occasions.  Ghost "Abbey", AKA the "Woman in a White Dress," is seen in the parks hotel, the same hotel that had burned down many years ago before being rebuilt.  She has also been seen on rides.  Ghost "Scotty" may be a former maintenance worker who died while on the job after many years of service.  Ghost "Jack" is the spirit of a former game attendant who lived in the hotel and is seem mostly frequently in the bar.  The park is far from modern looking, taking you back three or four decades before the monster roller coasters became the main attraction at places like Six Flags and Cedar Point.

TAPS co-founder Jason Hawes and Steve Gonsalves headed to what is called "Yesterday's Hotel," which is more of a bar/restaurant/storage facility then a hotel these days.  As they were investigating the top floor of the building they continued to hear faint voices and sounds of movement just down the hall from them.  Their K-2 meter was registering high readings, a sign that there was some type of energy around them.  A knocking noise stopped them in their tracks.  The whole time they were calling out for "Ghost Jack." K.J. McCormick and Britt Griffith also spent time in the "hotel" and they were seeing some type on the second floor, which was then followed by the alarms of their devices going off and a considerable decrease in the temperature in the room.  This was the exact area where "Jack" is said to be seen the most.  They walked down to the bar area, another place where "Jack" is said to make an appearance.  The "REM-Pod" they set up by the door to the bar started to alarm, meaning something had broken the air space around the device.  K.J. headed over to the door and believed he saw a shadow figure head to another door to exit the building.  Nobody else was there with them.

Adam Berry and Dave Tango were the last to investigate the hotel.  The door to the room where "Jack" once lived tends to open when it's closed and close when it's open.  They decided to close the door and sometime while they were investigating the rest of the floor, the door opened.  They couldn't seem to debunk why the door would close or open by itself.

Adam and Dave headed to the video game building where Ghost "Scotty" has been seen.  Like any good ghost hunter would do, they headed up to the attic after hearing footsteps coming from there while they were on the main floor.  They thought for a second that somebody else was up there with them and when a loud crashing sound came out of nowhere, if it wasn't a rat, then Scotty may have been trying his best to make contact with them.  Jason and Steve spent some time in the game room as well and a whistling sound got their attention, a few strange noises followed, but then all went silent.

The team all had some type of personal, paranormal experience that they could not explain throughout the night.  They were able to get most of these experiences recorded on their audio.  There really wasn't one EVP that sounded anything like a human voice but certainly sounds that came out of nowhere at times when they were asking questions to any of the spirits that may have been there with them.  TAPS thought there was paranormal experience occurring at the park but didn't come out and call it haunted.

Ghost Hunters is taking a little mid-season break so if you missed any episodes, re-runs are on their way.
