Nicholas David on The Voice Season 3

by Todd Betzold

One more night of performances for the Top 3 on The Voice and a night of voting and we will then finally find out who the winner of Season 3 will be. Three songs tonight by the Top 3 to prove they deserve the title, so will it be Cassadee Pope, Nicholas David or Terry McDermott winning it all? Let's check out how they performed under all the pressure tonight.

In honor of the tragedy that happened in Newtown, Connecticut, the coaches and singers from Season 3 take the stage to sing "Hallelujah" while holding a name of each of the victims. It is a very special moment and another tender moment brought to you by NBC in honor of the Sandy Hook Elementary tragedy.

Nicholas David (Team Cee Lo) - "Great Balls Of Fire" and "Fire" Medley
I loved, loved, loved this medley. Nicholas David was on fire tonight and this medley was amazing. It was so entertaining and it showed Nicholas is a fast and upbeat way, unlike in other performances, but it was sung amazingly well. His fans will be downloading this tonight on iTunes! Cee Lo said your honesty is always appreciated, but your fire tonight burned this house down. He loved it and is forever a fan.

Cassadee Pope (Team Blake) - "Over You" by Miranda Lambert
Carson Daly said each of the Top 3 had one performance that catapulted them to the top of the pack and the Top 3 will each be singing that song again tonight. For Cassadee, that song was "Over You," which was written by her coach Blake Shelton. It was another touching performance, but I feel she had more emotion in her first performance. Anyone else agree? She did look beautiful though. Blake said it is perfect and America's heart is heavy right now and it was just a great moment.

Terry McDermott and Blake Shelton Duet - "Dude Looks Like A Lady" by Aerosmith
Terry, his wife and son visited with Blake at his home this week and Blake surprised him with a visit from his Dad, who he has not seen in four years! It was a touching moment and then they take the stage to sing a duet. Blake actually sounds real good on this rock classic, but clearly this song is very fitting for Terry's voice. I enjoyed it, but I would like to hear something better from Terry tonight. Seeing Adam Levine on the guitar with his shirt off helping them out made this even better though!

Nicholas David (Team Cee Lo) - "Lean On Me" by Bill Withers
For his defining moment song, Nicholas sang the song that brought Cee Lo Green to tears and got him a visit from Bill Withers himself. This is what Nicholas does best and I loved it. He has a song full of soul and this song shows that. For me, he is two for two tonight and is proving why he should win The Voice! Cee Lo said he never ceases to amaze him and he believes in him and he moves him.

Terry McDermott (Team Blake) - "Take These Broken Wings" by Mr. Mister
This is Terry's son's favorite song, so of course he has to sing it on the finale. This started out so rough for me. He seemed to be lost and it was awkward at first, like he was having issues with his earpiece. He kicked it in as the song went on, but for me it was too late. I want his A-game tonight, like Nicholas has brought so far. Blake said every time he gets on stage something epic happens and he makes these classic rock songs sound new again.

Cassadee Pope (Team Blake) - "Steve McQueen" by Sheryl Crow
Blake invited Cassadee and her family over for a visit, which was nice to see. These duets are not impressing me tonight so far. I am not familiar with this song, but I am not a fan. I think they could have picked something better to showcase Cassadee's voice and then she brings out some megaphone and I am completely over it now!

Terry McDermott (Team Blake) - "I Want To Know What Love Is" by Foreigner
This was the song where they stripped Terry down and just let him sing and he wowed everyone earlier in the season. He did it again tonight. This song is perfect for his voice and I am in love with this performance. Can he win The Voice? I am not sure, but this brought him back up there in my eyes. Blake said you sang that song better tonight then you did the first time around.

Nicholas David (Team Cee Lo) - "Play That Funky Music" by Wild Cherry
Cee Lo has Nicholas and his family over for a visit, which was another touching moment. They then take the stage for their duet, which was a perfect song choice for both of them. They had fun on that stage together and I loved it. There was even a mini-Cee Lo that came out and danced, which was super cool. I was a fan of Nicholas before tonight, but his three songs tonight were all stellar and he deserves the victory tomorrow night!

Cassadee Pope (Team Blake) - "Cry" by Faith Hill
In no big surprise, the night ends with a Cassadee performance (have they not made it obvious enough they want her to win this season)? This was another good song from Cassadee singing country, so this girl needs to change her genre. Anyone agree? Blake said for every great moment she has had on this show, I have not heard her sing as well as she has done tonight.

The Voice airs Mondays and Tuesdays at 8/7c on NBC.
