Team Blake and Team Adam on The Voice Season 3

by Todd Betzold

Here we go folks. The live shows of The Voice have arrived for Season 3 and we have another new round upon us, as the Top 20 singers will sing it out in the Playoffs in hopes of moving on to the next round and be the final three to represent their team for America.

Up tonight are Team Blake and Team Adam. America's votes will save two of the singers and the coaches can save one more, which is the last save the coaches will have this season. After this round all the voting gets turned over to America and the singers with the most votes move on, regardless of what team they are on! Cee Lo Green has a wig on tonight and looks like an idiot, just an FYI.

Team Blake and Team Adam take the stage together, as they sing "Peace Of Mind" by Boston. As all ten singers hit the stage, it seems like some seem to outshine others during this competition and you wonder how others have even made it this far.

Joselyn Rivera (Team Adam) - "Give Your Heart A Break" by Demi Lovato
She was stolen by Adam Levine and then he picked her again, so will the steal pay off? Was anyone else annoyed by her continuing to point into the camera and audience and then the head twitch? It was okay, but I think she lost something since the Knockout Round. Adam said she did an incredible job and she killed it and she thrived in this environment.

Terry McDermott (Team Blake) - "Don't Stop Believin'" by Journey
Terry is worried about this song and thinks there are a lot of landmines on this footpath. Blake thinks he can make this song current and cool and not just on a rock station. He sounded good, but sounded a lot like the original and I wanted to see more of a different rendition of the song. He was a little stiff on the stage also and should have been running up and down that stage slapping the hands in the audience.

Melanie Martinez (Team Adam) - "Hit The Road Jack" by Ray Charles
She has a way to rearrange the song and make it her own, like she did with "Toxic" in her Blind Audition and I am looking forward to this performance. I think she did well, but I am still missing the charm she had in her initial audition. Adam said what was great is that he didn't find himself comparing it to the original and he was mesmerized by the performance.

Liz Davis (Team Blake) - "Independence Day" by Martina McBride
Blake wants to bring a country singer into the finals and he thinks this could be his chance. She is worried about singing a ballad because she normally attacks the song. I love that she started it out in a new way and put her twist on it. She has a strong voice and worked the crowd and I am a fan. Blake said she is the right country singer to bring into the live rounds and he is proud of her.

Cassadee Pope (Team Blake) - "My Happy Ending" by Avril Lavigne
She doesn't want to sound predictable and thinks she might want to mess with the melody of this song. She changed it up in spots and I liked it. She looks hot in her dress and works the stage and crowd. This is an awesome performance and she is a frontrunner in my eyes. Blake thinks so too, as he gives her a standing ovation. Blake said she is the pop rick chic and people are digging it and she is one of the fan favorites on this show and they make the decisions from here on out.

Bryan Keith (Team Adam) - "Iris" by Goo Goo Dolls
Adam thinks he is playing to his strengths with this song. This is a solid performance by Bryan and he has a good voice with this song choice, but there is something about him that makes me not want to get on board with him. I haven't been a huge fan all season and he just doesn't have that wow factor for me. Adam said the spirit and the soul was locked in in that performance.

Michaela Paige (Team Blake) - "Everybody Talks" by Neon Trees
Blake said this is just back to her being herself in this song and her age doesn't matter. She has a very strong voice and is so confident on stage. This was fun and upbeat, like her personality. She works the stage and the audience very well. Cee Lo thought it was the best performance of the night. Blake said she is making him look so smart and he was the only one that turned around for her and she nailed it.

Julio Cesar Castillo (Team Blake) - "El Rey"
Blake said he needs to show plenty of emotion during this performance because people aren't going to know what he is singing. I didn't think Blake should have picked him in the Knockout Rounds and this just confirms it for me. He has a good voice, but I just don't think he can win a show like The Voice, but the audience was loving him. Christina said he made all the Latina people proud. Blake said it was pretty good buddy.

Loren Allred (Team Adam) - "All Around The World" by Lisa Stansfield
Adam said he is shocked that she has made it this far and has shocked him so many times and she is the most improved singer of the season. This girl has a great voice and I wish they would have shown more of her earlier on in the competition. She rocks out this song and proves why she is here. Adam said he loved this choice and it was an incredible job, but he wants to hear more of that upper register.

Amanda Brown (Team Adam) - "Dream On" by Aerosmith
Adam said this is a powerful song by someone you would not expect to be singing it. She is a beautiful woman and she rocked the hell out of this performance. She has an amazing voice and I loved it and she is my favorite of the night by far. Adam said wasn't it a great steal from Cee Lo? This, by far, was the best performance of the night and she obliterated the notion she can only do one thing and she was a rock star up there.

The Voice airs again on Wednesday and Thursday at 8/7c on NBC this week due to the Presidential Election.
