The Challenge: Battle Of The Seasons

by Gina Scarpa

When we last left the players of The Challenge: Battle of the Seasons, lovebirds Eric and Devyn were about to go head to head in an elimination round. Beside Devyn stands JD, while Camila has no choice but to team up with Big Easy. In this mental challenge, the girls are strapped into a harness and must complete a puzzle several feet in the air. In order to be raised up, the guys have to hang upside down, and dunk and hold themselves underwater.

Camila gets off to a good start but Eric begins slowing down and complaining about the weight distribution. JD and Devyn also struggle about with figuring out the weight distribution but Brooklyn is such a solid team with great communication, that they're able to figure it out. Soon after, Eric decides that he can't do it anymore and when Camila screams at him, he quits. It's so unfortunate to see how Eric played this season, especially after coming back much more physically fit. He not only DQ'd on several challenges, but quit at the end when the going got tough.

There's nothing TJ hates more than a quitter but his wrath is nothing compared to Camila's, who freaks out on him for costing her a shot at the money. I would be just as frustrated if I were her but then again, was Fresh Meat really going to make it to the end? They were going in every time!

Right before the next challenge gets underway, Trishelle heads to the ambulance, suffering from dehydration. The Vegas can't understand why she can't do what the challenge is asking of her, which is to sit in a chair and answer trivia questions but only she knows if she's up to participating. Maybe she was just trying to get out of being slammed into the water from 20 feet above!

In the "Chairman of the Board" challenge, the trivia questions are easy enough but it's hard to think when you're in a chair that's leaning backwards over the water. One wrong answer and TJ's pulling that level to send you flying. Let's recap some of the things that players couldn't get right...

Marie: the host of the first Gauntlet
Dustin: the city in Iceland where the finale of Battle of the Exes took place
Jasmine: the capital of England
Sarah: best picture at the 2012 Oscars
Knight: Prince William's wife
Preston: the city the NBA team the Suns are from
JD: the president on the dime

New Orleans goes out first, followed by Saint Thomas, Las Vegas, Cancun, and then Brooklyn. Frank held it down for most of the time for San Diego, going out at the very end, with Sam taking over. Lucky her! She didn't even have to answer one question because when it came down to spelling, Chet couldn't properly spell narcissistic and plummeted into the water.

With New Orleans definitely going in, San Diego looks to match them up against someone they think they can win against... which is why I'm wondering why Brooklyn is even part of the discussion. There are weaker players than them, but the alliance is trying to stay true to one another (for at least another week or so). Knight and Jemmye decide that Mackenzie and Preston are going in - since when did they become the only say for the team?

San Diego not only throws Brooklyn in, but chooses Endurance as for the challenge. They all know Sarah's been to the finals of a Challenge before right? And she's definitely on the rotation to go in next, along with Chet. The foursome face off in "Balls Out" and it's not long before it's clear Mackenzie and Preston are outmatched. Mackenzie, in particular, is just walking around the arena - it's an ENDURANCE challenge! RUN!! Brooklyn is able to take it in two heats and live to stay another day. If I were the other teams, I'd stop throwing them in. They're dominating in the arena! Keep it up, guys!!
