The X Factor Season 2

by Todd Betzold

The acts were taken down to 24 last night on The X Factor and we found out what categories the mentors were assigned to. We saw Demi Lovato work with the Young Adults and Simon Cowell with the Groups last night and now it is time for Britney Spears with the Teens and L.A. Reid with the Over 25s tonight.

It starts tonight at L.A.'s house and he has Justin Bieber and his manager Scooter Braun helping him out. Jason Brock is up first and he comes out and sounds real good, but not as good as I have seen him before. Justin said he didn't hold back and he gave everything, but us that the one. I like this group because they are older and have life experiences and want this big time.

Next up is David Correy and he sounds amazing. He chose a great song and I loved his rendition of "Domino" by Jesse J. He had a lot of emotion and was solid. L.A. said it gave him chill bumps and Justin thought he was great and he could go far. Scooter said he saw pure passion and that is hard to find.

Daryl Black is next and he solid, as well. These guys have so much emotion and I love it. L.A. tells him that he felt that. Scooter said he has a special voice and with a band behind him it could work. L.A. said he had a good voice, but not sure on him.

Next up we have the country star Tate Stevens. We didn't have a country singer last year, so is The X Factor ready for a country singer? They could have two is Willie Jones makes it also. He is a great singer and has a confidence about him. I think he would put on a great show and would do well in the competition, as country singers do in these types of shows. Scooter said there is something about him that makes you want to root for him. L.A. seems anti-this whole group and I don't think he even believes the winner is in this group, which is real shitty for the mentor to think.

Vino Alan is next and tells his sad story before we see him sing. He has a good voice and you can feel him as he sings. He sounds great and he has that rocked edge to him. Justin said it was a great performance and he felt it emotionally. L.A. said he has a great voice and all that soul, but he is not seeing the whole package.

Tara Simon is the last one to go from the Over 25s and she is still annoying me. She thinks she can make the show a lot of money and she will win this thing. I have not been a fan of hers since her audition and that continues tonight. I don't think she is that strong and her voice is not that amazing or anything that will stand out. Justin said she has a big voice, but she needs to know when to have those tender moments.

L.A. meets with the guys to figure out who to send home and who to keep. He said he has had a change of heart once he heard thing sing today. I think L.A. will pick Jason, David, Daryl and Tate. Who do you think he will pick?

Time to head to Britney's house to see the Teens sing for her and will.i.am and a chance to move on to the live shows. The Teens are one of my favorite categories and has some strong competitors and one of them is up first: Diamond White. She does a good job, but I think she has sung stronger before. will.i.am said she has a strong voice, but she focuses on her moves too much. Britney said she needs to work on her confidence more.

Up next is Reed Deming, who is the Justin Bieber lookalike. He has a strong voice and even sounds like Justin Bieber in certain moments. I love his voice and hope he moves on. Britney said she thinks he was nervous and he can deliver better than he did.

The next singer is James Tanner, who brings his rapping style to will.i.am and Britney. He sounds alright, but it is nothing too impressive. Britney said she thought he was very entertaining, but not too sure if he was strong enough.

Next up is Arin Ray, the one guy who I don't think deserves to be there. He was a contestant last year. The judges put him with the group Intensity and they made the Top 12, but were out early and now he is back to do it on his own. He does a good rendition of "Starships" but I cannot get on board with this guy. He had his chance and they put him in a group and you lost, so try a new show. will.i.am said he has something, but she needs to work with him a little bit. Britney said he needs work, but she loves watching him.

Beatrice Miller is next and this girl has shined throughout this season. She starts crying before heading out and needs a moment to compose herself. She has such a raspy voice for such a young girl and is so powerful. She sings "Titanium" and I love it. I think she has a lot of potential and I think she is good. Britney said she needs to control her voice more. She is loud, but needs to control the loud.

The last singer for the Teens Category is Carly Rose Sonenclar and of course they save her for last. She has been great and I am excited for this one. She sings her own rendition of "Brokenhearted" by Karmin and I am in love. This girl has amazing skills and will go very far in this competition. Britney said she is a very talented young girl, but scared she might not be able to cope with the pressure of the show.

Britney and will.i.am sit down and talk about the contestants and who they want to send home. I think she picks: Arin (ugh), Carly Rose, Beatrice and Diamond. Who do you think it will be?

The X Factor airs on Wednesdays and Thursdays at 8/7c on FOX.
