America's Next Top Model Cycle 19

After some drama on the last episode, have things calmed down at America's Next Top Model: College Edition?

Um...there's still like 10 girls left. Calm? Not exactly.

Victoria, who won the previous Best Photo, is singing her same old "I'm Jewish and Native American and I love my mom!" tune. And remember (it's ok if you don't) when I said I couldn't wait for the girl who decided NOT to pick a roommate to share the Tyra Suite? Yeah, that's Victoria. On the one hand, I want to feel bad that the other girls are cruel to her, but on the other hand....

Well, on the other hand? She told them all - as they salivated over the thought of spending a night in the suite - how much she was looking forward to having all that space to herself.

The other girls are all talking about the role of social media (and the fans) in the competition, as the most recent elimination all came down to the social media score. The fans will also be the ones who determine which of the eliminated models can return to the competition. You hear that, girls? Don't be annoying - WE control your fate!

Kristin is one of the girls who has been scored highly in social media, though the rest of the judges aren't as enamored with her as the fans are. Kiara informs us that Kristin is a nasty person despite being a pretty girl, and I have to laugh. I mean, Kiara? I totally saw last week's episode. Just sayin'.

Kristin, looking for a lighter, didn't bother to ask Destiny before rummaging around her bag, which, you know, kind of pissed Destiny off. That went over about as great as you'd expect, but Kristin continued to instigate. She's got a plan, guys. She figures if she can get Destiny to slap her? Destiny will be going home. Operation: Mean Girl is in effect. She picked the wrong target though - Destiny may look tough, but she doesn't take the bait.

The next day, Tyra introduces the girls to Tyler Perry and tells them all that the next challenge will bring out the characters in them. Each of the girls chooses a flag, labeled with a character they'll be asked to play: Tourist, Rapper, Street Performer, or Hollywood Diva.

Kiara has gotten Hollywood Diva, which she thinks will be great to boost her public score, even though Yvonne says most of the girls thought that was basically who Kiara thinks she is anyway. Victoria is also taking on the role of Hollywood Diva, but it's unclear what planet her "Hollywood" is on. She's "playing" a delusional celebrity very well, especially when one random person on the street throws food at her in response.

Kristin (rapper) and Leila (delusional star) weren't quite as successful with their acting, but Yvonne - oh, excuse me, Chocolate Thang - really impressed with her commitment to the role. And also her ability to make up raps on the fly.

Ultimately, Tyler Perry picks his favorite performance: Kiara is the winner of a walk-on role in a Tyler Perry movie. The other girls are...you know...thrilled.

For this week's shoot, the girls will be on the set of War of the Worlds at Universal Studio made up like zombies, working their bad sides. (Sidenote: the girls are super excited to be on the set, and I don't really understand why. Not only was it not that great of a movie, but it's also a permanent part of the studio tour...meaning anyone at the theme park can visit it. I know. I've done it. Twice.)

With the prosthetics and wigs and colored contacts, all the girls look amazing. Johnny wants a little more diversity from Victoria, but he calls Laura "a champ." Which is the opposite of Kristin, who he says comes off like a bitch. She's frustrated because she doesn't know how to give him anything but "pretty." Oh, and Kiara tells us Kristin's a spoiled brat who doesn't deserve to be there. Thanks for the heads up, Kiara.

Yvonne continued to struggle with her shoot, as she is reluctant to embrace the opportunity to show off her (plus-size?) body. She's curvier than some of the other girls, and the judges have encouraged her to really work what she's got. Unfortunately, Johnny doesn't feel like she's really bringing the body to the shoot.

Leila has a great shoot, but Destiny says that, while she's trying to do something new, she's totally forgotten how to pose. Johnny, as well as the other girls, doesn't think she's really using her potential.

And now it's time for judgment.

Leila: Judges liked her photo and felt like she did a great job portraying the zombie without forgetting she was a model.
Judges Scores: 7 (Kelly) + 9 (Tyra) + 9 (Rob)

Kiara: After Rob says that Kiara looks like she belongs in a music video instead of a zombie movie, Kelly describes it best: "It looks like you attacked Nicole Scherzinger from the Pussy Cat Dolls and tried to take her position." Bryan says her social media scores are slipping.
Judges Scores: 6 (Kelly) + 6 (Tyra) + 6 (Rob)

Brittany: The judges like her "psycho housewife" shoot, though Tyra suggests she could've turned just a little more towards her (literal) bad side to make it even better.
Judges Scores: 8 (Kelly) + 8 (Tyra) + 9 (Rob)

Victoria: Tyra says that she doesn't feel like Victoria really lost herself in this shoot, and both Rob and Kelly aren't really getting the zombie feel from her.
Judges Scores: 6 (Kelly) + 6 (Tyra) + 6 (Rob)

Destiny: Kelly tells Destiny she looks more like she's in a gnarly puppet theater than a fashion shoot, and Tyra informs her that her eyes are too far apart. I mean, it's a good thing for a model (or so she claims?) but I still found it odd.
Judges Scores: 5 (Kelly) + 5 (Tyra) +6 (Rob)

Laura: The judges love her picture, with Tyra calling it "stunning." Bryan says he loves it, and so do the viewers - she's giving everyone exactly what they want.
Judges Scores: 9 (Kelly) + 9 (Tyra) + 9 (Rob)

Kristin: Kristin's shot is described as the weakest work she's done so far, and Rob even breaks out the dreaded "you look too pretty" that we know Kristin loves.
Judges Scores: 4 (Kelly) + 7 (Tyra) + 6 (Rob)

Allyssa: The judges, again, don't really get the zombie feeling from Allyssa, and Bryan tells her that, although her social media scores are consistent, her fans want to see her use her body more.
Judges Scores: 7 (Kelly) + 8 (Tyra) + 7 (Rob)

Nastasia: Though her photo gets positive reviews from the judges, there's some debate about how tall Nastasia actually is, as they all note that she photographs short. Bryan tells her her scores took a little dip.
Judges Scores: 6 (Kelly) + 9 (Tyra) + 7 (Rob)

Yvonne: Kelly tells Yvonne she looks like a stripper, not a zombie. Rob thinks she's trying to be too pretty. Bryan tells her that she's fallen "way down the bunny hole."
Judges Scores: 5 (Kelly) + 6 (Tyra) + 5 (Rob)

So who's got the Best Photo this week? Laura, who not only has Best Photo, but also the highest scores of the competition, even beating out Kristin's social media scores.

As the other models are called out, Destiny and Yvonne remain at risk for elimination. With 29.5 points, Yvonne beats out Destiny's 27.0. Interestingly, Destiny's fan vote was a full half point higher than Yvonne's, but she is the one eliminated.

As she departs, Destiny tells us, "I'm just gonna be pissed off and try to come back." Seems like a good mantra.
