Jasmia from America's Next Top Model

The seven American models were in for a surprise on the season premiere of ANTM this week when they faced off against seven British models, all of whom competed on Britain's Next Top Model. Fortunately for the Americans, they were all safe after a photo shoot portraying some of their country's most iconic people. Unfortunately for Jasmia, she became the first model eliminated this season after Tyra said her personality just wasn't coming through. We talked to the British model today about her experience in the states, competing on ANTM.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: Even though you were on Britain's Next Top Model, did you feel that there were more modeling opportunities for you here in the states?
A. Jasmia: Yeah definitely! I felt like it was a great cycle for America's Next Top Model. It's never been done before, mixing the two countries together. I think it was great! I just think there's a lot more opportunity.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: What did you think about the girls being split into "teams", the UK vs. the US?
A. Jasmia: I think.... you know what? I thought it was quite funny. While we were doing the shoot, everyone took it seriously because we were Team UK or Team US. When it came down to the house, it didn't matter what country we were from. To me, it was fun having American girls in the house and being able to learn about their experience, their childhoods, it was quite intriguing.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: What was the biggest cultural difference between the American girls and the British girls on the show?
A. Jasmia: American girls... I love them to death, but they are so forward, very outspoken, a lot crazier than the British girls. We're more reserved, we think before we speak, and we're not so in your face as much. The American girls are quite loud!

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: Was it tough for you to try to be fashionable or sexy in your photo shoot, given that you had to dress up as a guy?
A. Jasmia: Yes definitely! I tried my best with the person that I was given. I wasn't even born when John Lennon was around. It was a bit crazy! I did feel that it was hard to play a guy. There was a lot more pressure on myself and it was a lot harder.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: Did it make you nervous when all the American girls were called, and five British girls were still waiting for their photos during panel?
A. Jasmia: Oh yes! Oh my gosh! I was like, "This cannot be occurring!" When I watched the shoot, I thought they had done amazingly.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: Why do you think that you were the first girl sent home this season?
A. Jasmia: I still don't actually know specifically what the reason was. I remember a comment that Tyra said about Ashley's personality shining through. But we didn't have enough time to let our personalities show. I just wanted to listen to their advice and they may haven taken it like I was quiet. I was taking in all the information. It wasn't about being on a reality TV program. I wanted to show that I am a good model and I wanted to work hard. I was kind of shocked that I was eliminated first. Mr. Jay's feedback was quite good. I just feel they didn't give me enough time to come out of my shell.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: Even though you're in the UK right now, are you planning on coming back to America to further your career?
A. Jasmia: Yes definitely, my plan is to come over to America and to break into the American market. It's been a dream of mine since I was a little girl so having that platform to go on America's next Top Model will open a few doors and help my journey. You're going to see more of me!
