The Voice Season 2: Blind Auditions

by Todd Betzold

This is it...time for the coaches to find the remaining singers to complete their teams on The Voice as the blind auditions come to an end and we move on to the battle rounds next week. Christina, Adam and Blake all need two acts and Cee Lo still needs three.

Whitney Myer: been in music her whole life, wanted this since she was five years old, Dad is a singer. Being in music her whole life paid off because she got all four coaches to turn around...first singer and now a battle is on. Christina and Adam lay it on pretty thick for her, which she goes with Team Adam.

David Dunn: became passionate about music at the age of 15, Dad owns an oil company, he went to college and got his engineering degree, but now pursuing music against his Dad's will. Pretty decent singer, but none of the coaches were feeling it this late in the auditions and none turned around.

The Shields Brothers: live on a farm with their parents, rockers, never worked part-time jobs only worked on their music, want to punch America in the face with rock and roll, wild and crazy guys, had fun on stage, flinging mic stands around. They got Cee Lo to turn around right away and no one else joined him, so they will be joining Team Cee Lo.

Cheesa: from Hawaii, started singing at 10 years old, family moved to L.A. and had financial struggles to pursue their daughters' music career, wants Cee Lo to turn around. She started out slow, but came on strong. Cee Lo wanted to push right at end and thought he missed it, but she continued and Adam told him to push it and he did and he got her...only coach to turn around...she joins Team Cee Lo.

Preston Marshall: 64 years old, blues singer, wants a contract and a great record, feels this is his last opportunity to make it at his age. Blake almost hit it, but didn't and none of the other coaches did either and his last opportunity to make it slipped away.

Lex Land: music camp counselor, sings jazz gigs for extra income, travels all over to sing, cameras and coaches are intimidating to her and she is super nervous. She sings with the nerves going strong, but still did well and impressed Cee Lo, Adam and Blake, as they all turned around...battle it out boys. They fight for her, but she ends up choosing Team Blake.

Orlando Napier: L.A. blues singer, Carson meets him at a blues bar to give him his invitation to the blind auditions, was a big drinker, went to jail for a bar fight, plays in a band with his father. I like this guy and he gets only Adam to turn around, so he will join Team Adam. Orlando is the last one to join Team Adam as Adam gets his 12th member.

Cameron Novack: jack-of-all-trades, says he sings it all, he will consider himself a triple threat if that's as high as he can go (he is going to be bad), shocked if the coaches don't turn around. Cee Lo really wants to turn around, but never does...all judges shocked at what he looks like...some thought he was a girl. They try to cheat and get him on Cee Lo's team, but they can't do that and he heads home.

Lee Koch: a baker, he'd like to be a musician who bakes, not a baker pursuing music, at a fork in the road in his life. It took a while and it took him playing the harmonica, but he eventually got Christina to turn around, so he will be joining Team Christina.

WADE: aspiring R&B singer, biggest fear is getting to the end of his song and seeing the back of all four chairs. He sang "Rehab" and I loved his rendition of it...so good. Cee Lo was the only one to turn around, so he will be joining Team Cee Lo. That completes Team Cee Lo, as WADE becomes the 12th member.

Adley Stump: country singer, sorority girl, singing for ten months, her Mom hopes she doesn't have to go out and turn one of the coaches' chairs around, doesn't have big stage experience (duh, with only singing 10 months). She had good moments and with her only singing for 10 months, she did well. Christina and Blake turned around together, so now it is on...will she go with the country coach? The coaches battle it out for her, but she chooses Blake and becomes the last member of Team Blake.

We go through some singers that Christina turns down and is being very picky for the singer who will fill that last spot...time to find that singer.

Sera Hill: been working for her big break and has not given up, works the front desk at a hotel and sings at work, sings from her heart, nervous Christina won't turn around because she is one of her inspirations. And we have my new favorite...she rocked it out with her song and she gets Christina to turn around and get the last member of Team Christina. Christina takes a moment and goes up and sings part of the song with Sera...it was good, but a little awkward. And we have finally made it to the battle rounds, which start next week.

The Voice airs Mondays at 8/7c on NBC.
