Daphne Dortch from The Biggest Loser 13

It was hard not to root for Adrian and Daphne from the very beginning this season on The Biggest Loser. After being eliminated before even stepping foot on the ranch, they went home, determined to come back. They earned their spots back in the competition one month later but were not greeted with open arms by their team members. After weeks of drama, both Adrian and Daphne have been eliminated but the after effects of that drama still remain on the ranch. Today, we talked to Daphne in an exclusive interview about her Biggest Loser experience, which didn't live up to what she hoped it would be.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: Whose idea was it to go on The Biggest Loser?
A. Daphne: It was my brother Adrian's idea to go on The Biggest Loser. We were out bowling, celebrating a birthday, and he showed me an internet print of a casting call in Chicago. He asked me if I wanted to go and without hesitation, I said "Yes"!

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: How did you and Adrian react to and deal with being sent home before really stepping foot onto the ranch?
A. Daphne: I was devastated and heartbroken. I cried uncontrollably. That night of the first challenge, I was in a zone. My brother had to shake me to get out of it. It was one of those moments that you see on tv when someone needs to get smacked to get back into reality. My brother also took it hard. However, we were both determined to make it back.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: You both seemed so motivated and excited to come back, but the reception from the contestants wasn't exactly warm. Did it surprise you how you and your brother were treated?
A. Daphne: Yes, it did surprise me. The night we lost the challenge, all of the contestants were giving us hugs and saying good luck and how sad they were to see us go and it seemed so unfair. So when we got back, we thought we would be welcomed but we were not. We were both especially disappointed in Buddy and Mark. Buddy is a pastor and Mark is a youth pastor. We thought for sure these men being men of GOD would have love and compassion for us. However, we were sadly mistaken.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: Why did you decide to only switch Jeremy and Conda after winning the temptation challenge? You must have known that it would be obvious that you were the one who did it, considering that otherwise, the teams stayed intact.
A. Daphne: I decided to switch Jeremy and Conda because both were a major pain in the you-know-what to my brother and me. It's no secret that Conda had it out for Adrian from the start. I also figured that when the black team did go to elimination again, I would be the one chosen based on the fact that the bonds with the other members were stronger than the one's I had with them. So why not "set it off"? I had nothing to lose either way. I was still going to be the one sent home. It put me in a real emotional state of mind and I was not thinking clearly. I clearly did not factor in how others would react to my decision.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: What was it about Bob that made you feel like you needed to stay with him and couldn't switch over to Dolvett if you had to?
A. Daphne: Bob is a great person. He makes you feel like whatever you want to achieve, you can. If Bob tells me to fly, my next question would be, "Bob, how high?" He is a very positive person and I love positive spirits around me. Not to mention, he is extremely funny and he has been on The Biggest Loser since the beginning and is very knowledgeable of his craft. I did not want to be switched to Dolvett's team for several reasons. Dolvett is in his second season of the show, and I felt that he didn't do enough to assist my brother in bonding with the red team. After my last chance workouts with both trainers in Chicago, I immediately knew Bob was the trainer for me.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: What happened with the +2 on the scale on this past episode? I thought for sure you were going to be this week's Biggest Loser and the black team would have to vote somebody else out.
A. Daphne: Well, I did eat 1890 calories of peanut butter cups after having already eaten breakfast that day. Also, what contributed to it was the stress in the house that week and the fact that the previous week, I lost 12 pounds so I was not expecting a high number. This is not the first time something like this has happened. Last year, Bob took Sunny home and she lost 16 pounds one week and gained a lot the next week. I just want to make it clear that unlike my fellow teammates, I would never throw a weigh-in.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: Obviously, this experience has not been what you and Adrian envisioned it would be. Has that been tough to deal with?
A. Daphne: This experience has not been what me and Adrian envisioned. There's been pain and there's been some joy. The sun can't always shine. In the midst of it all, it was hard to deal with. I thought very highly of my team members until they sabotaged the weigh-in. It made me angry but I don't want to hold on to that anger because in the long run, I would only be hurting myself.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: It seems like you are having a lot of success at home, which is no surprise! What is a typical day in your life like?
A. Daphne: I am having a lot of success at home! A typical day for me is taking my children to school and while they are there, I am at the gym working out. We come home, have dinner and homework time, and then I am off to the gym again. Then, it is bedtime and we do it all over again!
