Super Finale with winners of The Voice, American Idol and X-Factor not likely

TV-mogul Simon Cowell's recent suggestion of a final sing-off between the winners of the top three talent shows in the country has been rejected by Maroon 5 front man and The Voice judge, Adam Levine.

A few days ago, Cowell, the British entrepreneur who created the hugely successful X-Factor franchise, told his 1.5 million followers on Twitter that he'd "be up for" the idea of a "super final" that squared off the winners of these national competitions against one another. Although he followed it up with the comment that it was "just a thought", his idea was widely publicized and had many reality fans excited about the prospect.

Unfortunately for us, and especially for Simon, it doesn't seem as if the other shows are very interested in this "super final". Adam Levine, from The Voice, which is nearing the end of its second-season audition rounds, told reporters from Access Hollywood that they're "not totally interested in what everyone else is doing." Although he did add that it was "kind of a cool idea", the message was clear: NBC's The Voice wants "to just do what we do".

The snub comes as no surprise, as the competition between the singing competitions has been very fierce lately. Earlier this month, Cowell accused The Voice of copying his show's premise and questioned the quality of the artists it had discovered. And American Idol's Randy Jackson implied that The Voice's contestants were Idol and X-Factor rejects. While it's unfortunate that direct collaboration will most likely not happen in the near future, we should not assume that there is real bad blood between the shows though. This kind of competition is to be expected from shows with similar premises. Cowell for example tweeted last week about "loving the rivalry between all the music shows" and Jackson told Ellen Degeneres earlier today that "it's all love". All is fair in love and war, we suppose!
