Week 2 and we still don't have Heidi or Tim with us on Project Runway All Stars...how will I ever survive?
James Mischka and Mark Badgley join us right away as guest judges this week and announce the challenge for the All Stars, which is a night at the opera...creating a gorgeous evening gown for an elegant evening with only one day to complete it. Let the claws come out, as this is Austin's area of expertise and the other all stars are coming after him.
Designers start sketching their dresses...all except Mondo, who apparently just goes to Mood and gets material and then comes back to studio and let's the material create itself. After both using mops last week, Michael and April both decide on red fabric and feathers, before Michael queens out and buys a black fabric instead. April then proceeds to dye her fabric when back in the studio, in which all the designers freaked out and thought this was her death wish...we shall see.
Joanna Coles makes her visit to the studio and I still miss Tim. She seems to be all positive messages for the designers, which I don't like. She is worried about April's dress...April says she has no plan B, so this hand dying better work out. She compares Kara's dress to a bridesmaids dress and Anthony's dress to a brides dress.
Kara's fabric is not pretty and she is freaking out...girl, you've been here before...pull it together and make a dress! All the designers are freaking out when they head back to their apartment because of the "couture" challenge...saying it takes months not hours to make a couture gown, so it is insulting to use that term. Michael decides to call them really, really, really pumped-up prom dresses!
The designers rush to get things done before time for runway time...and it is here and we are off! I really liked Kenley, Mondo and Michael...good job. Sweet P's dress looks exactly as her dress did last week...and we all know that landed her in the bottom two. Kara's dress turned out to be decent and Austin held his own in his own style. April's dye job did not work and dress looked stained.
Highest and lowest scores this week are: Anthony, April, Sweet P, Austin, Kara and Michael. Lots of boobs showing in Michael's dress, but the judges loved it (as did I). April's red and black dress won over no one. Sweet P has a prom dress. Love for Austin's dress and Kara had positive feedback, but they wanted more. Angela, our new host, wants to wear Michael's dress...I think we have a winner.
Discussion by the judges leads to Anthony being safe...so, will it be Michael or Austin winning this week? Austin wins the challenge he was a favorite to win, but Michael put up a fight. Michael and Kara are safe, leaving Sweet P and April. I think it's time for Sweet P to go home...two challenges and two dresses almost identical. And April is in and Sweet P out.
