Dancing With the Stars Season 13

by Danae Young

This week on Dancing With the Stars, only four couples remain in the semi-finals.

Each couple had three dances this week – two individual dances and the Cha Cha relay. One of the individual dances was the Argentine Tango in which they were allowed to do lifts.

Hope and Maks danced the Paso Doble for their first individual dance. Len said it had attitude and aggression, but she lost control and finesse. Bruno said it was a bit unsteady and thought it lacked artistry. Carrie Ann said she nailed the character of the dance.

Score: 7+7+7=21.

JR and Karina also danced the Paso Doble. Bruno said it was very good, but added that the posture just wasn’t quite there. Carrie Ann gave him credit for doing the dance with his ankle in the condition it is in. Len said the dance didn’t suit him.

Score: 8+7+8=23.

Rob and Cheryl changed the pace of the ballroom and danced the Samba. Carrie Ann said his musicality was fantastic. Len said the moment he stepped off the float he was saying, “Oh, yes!” Bruno told him to keep using that butt.

Score: 10+9+9=28.

Ricki and Derek followed with another Samba. Len gave it a fabulous times three. Bruno said it was sizzling hot from beginning to end. Carrie Ann also said it was fabulous, but just once.

Score: 10+10+10=30.

Next each couple danced the Argentine Tango. Each star also revealed a bit about their past before their dance.

Hope and Maks were up first. Hope’s determination comes from her family troubles. Len said this dance was far better than her Paso. Bruno said it was much better and more controlled. Carrie Ann said there was more fluidity to her movements.

Score: 8+8+8=24.

JR and Karina performed next. His accident has made him a much stronger person. Bruno said it was strong and fearless. Carrie Ann said there was a true fire burning that connected them throughout the dance. Len said he was transported to the back streets of Buenos Ares.

Score: 9+9+9=27.

Rob and Cheryl followed with another Argentine Tango. The loss of his dad gave him the courage to go to USC and make his dad proud. Carrie Ann said there is no way to fake good dancing and said there was definitely no faking in this dance. Len said he is finishing this competition strong. Bruno said he looks like a leading man.

Score: 9+9+9=27.

Ricki and Derek danced the last Argentine Tango of the night. She was molested as a child, which lead to her gaining a lot of weight. Hitting rock bottom got her to lose weight and become a fighter. Len said there was a lovely contrast of movement. Bruno said her dancing was fearless. Carrie Ann said there was a pop and shine in her performance.

Score: 9+10+10=29.

For the final round of the night, each couple performed in the Cha Cha Relay. Afterward, the judges ranked them from first to last:

First with 10 extra points: Rob and Cheryl! This made their total for the night 65.

Second with 8 extra points: Ricki and Derek. This made their total for the night 67.

Third with 6 extra points: JR and Karina. This made their total for the night 56.

Fourth with 4 extra points: Hope and Maks. This made their total for the night 49.
