Well, at least no one could say they didn't see it coming.
It was the end of a long run on Dancing With the Stars for activist Chaz Bono (perhaps too long) and his partner Lacey Schwimmer as the very dramatic Broadway Week drew to a, perhaps appropriately, anti-climactic close.
At the beginning of the results show, the encore dance made a triumphant return with J.R. Martinez and Karina Smirnoff's quickstep, which razzle-dazzled the crowd for second night in a row. Right after, they were told they were safe (as if that really was a question), and that they would be dancing in next week's Halloween special.
Another featured dance was the Macy's Stars of Dance performance, which had High School Musical alumni Corbin Bleu doing a montage of famous Broadway numbers. And to top it all, he was dancing and singing. Sure, he lost some steam at the end, but for a twenty-something to do all those iconic numbers in that short of a time was very impressive.
We were also treated to a performance by Kristin Chenoweth, Broadway actress extraordinare. She was joined by Tony Dovolani and DWTS Troupe Dancer Dasha Chesnokova to do a chance just as cute as Kristin looked. Dasha and Kristin were even matching! Martina McBride also took the ballroom floor with her new single, accompanied by Maks and former "Dancing" pro Chelsie Hightower.
But the best part of the night was a preview of next week's Halloween Week, which featured Mark Ballas, Lacey Schwimmer and bunch of kids who are probably too young to know who many of the celebrities are on the actual show, dubbed as the "Dancing With the Stars' 2020 Pros" by Tom.
Back to the results, where it came down to Hope & Maks and Chaz & Lacey, which built up suspense around whether or not Maks' apology to the judges was enough. And, it must have played into enough, as the soccer player was spared for one more week, while Chaz & Lacey were sent packing.
The final six celebrities hit the floor again next Monday at 8/7c on ABC's Dancing With the Stars.
