It's all about being cool and being popular on tonight's episode of Work Of Art: The Next Great Artist.
The contestants head to Simon's studio to find out what their next challenge is. A line of soup cans lead them to Simon and China, where they stand at Andy Warhol's famous painting of a Campbell's soup can. For their challenge, they must create a Pop art piece that captures their generation.
They go shopping for material and Sucklord decides he is going to go for a "Winning" pop art and bases his on Charlie Sheen and his rant he went on this past summer, with the tiger blood and goddesses...I like his thinking. Then we get to see some flirtation between Sucklord and Lola....ooh la la!
Dusty is going to be doing a slam on fast food restaurants with his piece, while Leon is going to be doing a collage of logos from popular corporations, like Facebook and Starbucks, since we are obsessed with these companies. Meanwhile, Michelle, having been in the top two both shows so far, is basically doing an update to Warhol's painting and using a Coke Zero can instead of a Campbell's soup can.
Simon comes to the studio and has Jess Cagle, editor of Entertainment Weekly Magazine, with him. Jess is there to announce that the winner of this challenge will get a two-page spread in Entertainment Weekly. Also, Simon announced that there will be no immunity for the winner and it would be a double-elimination tonight...big news dropped on the artists.
Kymia proceeds to have a nervous breakdown after learning two people will be sent home. She cries and is a hot mess.
Sara is going with an online dating theme and Kymia is doing a piece with a naked picture of herself holding a water bottle with garbage in it, which distracts Sucklord from working because of the breasts on the screen next to him! Lola is working on a social media piece and ways of communicating. Young Sun is working on a billboard piece based on his stand against Prop 8.
Simon comes for his studio visit. A positive review for Kymia, but a bad review for Dusty, so he is worried now because of the double elimination. More mixed reviews for the rest of the artists, which puts some of them in a tizzy to get their piece done.
As the night is winding down, Sucklord accidentally spills some white paint on Jazz-Minh's picture. He is worried, but she thinks it adds to her portrait, which is a relief to Sucklord. She decides to sleep on it and see how she feels the next day. Her feelings remain the same the next morning, so the white paint stays.
Time for the gallery show with the judges China, Jerry and Bill and guest judge Rob Pruitt, acclaimed pop artist. The artists seem to be mixed on their pieces, with some loving it and some hating what they created...the judges feel the same way about them.
After the show, the judges want to speak with Leon, Jazz-Minh, Young Sun, Dusty, Michelle and Kamiah. The rest are safe, but before they go Bayete is told he is lucky he had immunity. Young Sun and Kamiah are told that they are the two favorite pieces for the week, with Young Sun winning and getting his two-page spread in Entertainment Weekly.
That leaves us with Leon, Jazz-Minh, Dusty and Michelle in the bottom, with two of them going home. The artists get a chance to defend their pieces to the judges before they go back to discuss who will go home. After some deliberation, the judges announce that Michelle and Dusty are safe, so Jazz-Minh and Leon are going home.
