The X Factor airs on a special night and we get a chance to see the rest of the top 32 sing their hearts out before their new mentor before they are cut down to only 16.
Up first tonight is one of my faves, Jazzlyn Little, but will her nerves get to her again tonight? Looking very beautiful, she sings "I Will Survive" by Gloria Gaynor and it was a totally different version and I loved it. I could hear that on the radio right now, but one of the vocal coaches said it sounded like a high school talent show.
For LA. And Rihanna, we get to see the total opposite type of person, as cocky Brennin Hunt gets his chance in front of them. The problem with him: I don't want to like him. He is too cocky for me, yet he can sing and I enjoy it, which ticks me off. Rihanna says he seems corny, like a 90s boy band guy.
First group tonight for Paula and Pharrell are The Stereo Hogzz. This was a fun performance. They can sing and had some fun choreography. A good group effort.
Another one of my faves (and from my favorite group: over 30s), Josh Krajcik, gets his time in front of Nicole and Enrique. It was a great performance...he's got a voice on him, but will he move forward with not having the look of a ‘star?"
2 Squar'd, one of the groups not highlighted too much during previous shows, has to take on "Bohemian Rhapsody" by Queen and they fail in my eyes. It was just like the original and nothing too special.
From North Carolina sales manager to singing on X Factor, Tom Cifers gets his chance next. He puts on a very emotional and strong performance. His country twang was perfect for his song, "Dance With My Father."
The youngest contestant left in the competition, 13-year-old Rachel Crow, brings her talents in front of Simon. She's a cute little girl and blew me away at bootcamp. She can sing and I think she may need some work, but I think that is the point of this show. She is going to be big someday.
Now to the oldest contestant, Leroy Bell, who is now 60 years old. Now don't get me wrong, I think he is a good singer, but I just wasn't wowed by this performance and I truly believe he could never win this show.
Best friends, Illusion Confusion, are up next for Paula and Pharrell. They also weren't shown a whole lot in previous shows and during their performance they showed previous video and interviews with the guys...I don't think they'll be moving on.
Tiger Budbill is our next singer. He sings a great song, but Nicole questioned if there was a market out there for him to sell records to. Enrique said that shouldn't be an option...if they can sing, so be it.
Up next is Marcus Candy, who is in the last part of the two years his mother gave him to try and make it as a singer...this is it for him. He does a little flirting with Rihanna, before singing a great song. He's cute and a great singer, so he may go far in this competition.
The girl Simon fought for, Tiah Tolliver, is up next. Now is his chance to hear her on his own. She had some pre-singing nerves, but they went away when she got in front of Simon, that's for sure. She did an excellent job and it was very fun.
Now we get to see Christa Collins, the first child solo artist signed by Disney. She has a different tone to her voice, but I enjoy it. The problem: she is in a very strong group, so who knows what four Nicole will choose.
The second group formed at bootcamp, Intensity, is up next. This is a group of the younger contestants, so maybe a new future Disney star? This was a very fun performance and I enjoyed it, however there are eight of them in the group and I think it is too much going on on the stage.
Chris Rene is up next, just out of rehab when he first auditioned and now clean and sober for over 90 days. He is self-doubting himself, but he holds that back during his performance. He was very confident and put on a good show...I liked it.
And the last contestant left is, of course, Melanie Amaro. One of the early favorites of the show proved why she is considered a favorite with this song. We got another singer on our hands folks. Such a strong voice and she looked beautiful.
Now it is time for the judges to decide which four performers in their group will be moving on and which four will be going home, but we will not find out who will make the top 16 until The X Factor airs on Tuesday at 8/7c on Fox.
