The Biggest Loser 12: Episode 2 Recap

I always enjoy the weight-loss philosophy of The Biggest Loser: no pain, no gain (in weight loss). The show's producers are always doing something to tear down the contestants (like Jillian Michaels nearly spitting in someone's face) before building them back up again.

And this week was no exception. What's going to happen when you stick a bunch of overweight people who are not used to exercise, who are probably dying to have any kind of reward food, in a room full of donuts? They're going to eat them, of course, especially if it's a competition.

But this wasn't just any competition, this was their weekly temptation competition. At stake: gym time. The gym would only be open for two hours at a time; in the morning, in the afternoon, and at night. The person who ate the most mini donuts would win the privilege to pick which team would exercise when.

Mike thinks he has the most on the line, so he goes after those donuts like there's no tomorrow. Meanwhile, Joe tries the psychological technique by pushing his plate around, making people think that he's eating the mini donuts. it comes down to Mike and John (from the Black Team). John takes it 37-11, which actually seems like it makes him embarrassed.

Black chooses the early morning workout slot, giving Blue (the Old Team) the midday slot and Red (the young team) the late night shot.

Bob takes early morning to mean early morning. Like 4:00 am early, because John ate all those donuts. But it's not John that has things at stake, Antoine has a major breakdown in the gym, which Bob says is his demons coming out. Sunny gets pissed that John has been talking about her behind her back, and the Black Team ends up having it out.

Anna and the Blue Team is next, and she's not taking no for an answer. She starts talking about Russian proverbs and not giving up, both of which the seniors don't seem to understand. Johnny is giving her the most problem in terms of not wanting to exercise.

When the Red Team hits the gym, Dolvett is no nonsense. Like scarier than Jillian no nonsense. He's not letting anyone say that having the late slot is a disadvantage, and he's in everyone's faces. Jessica opens up and talks about the abusive relationship in her past, and how she's trying to get past it now.

Next was a stop with Dr. Huizenga on just how bad their health is. Highlights: Ramon is the unhealthiest person on the ranch and he has diabetes, while Vinny has toxic blood because he has so much excess fat. It's all around bad news for everyone, but the good news is that there's hope to change that.

This week's challenge is a straight up labyrinth maze, where each contestant will have to use their body weight to control the corners. The Red Team gets stuck fairly easily, and the Blue Team gets stuck in the same place, too. Per usual, the Blue Team finishes dead last, while it's a tight race between the Red Team and the Black Team. The Black Team edges out the Red Team by seconds, earning them a 2 pound advantage. The Red Team gets 1 pound for coming in second.

After an extremely tense last-chance workout, everyone is concerned about where they stand in the competition. No one wants to go home, but the Blue Team is extra worried, because they already had to send someone home last week.

The weigh-in results were as follows:

RED TEAM:
Jessica: -7 (-2.93%)
Courtney: -7 (-2.76%)
Ramon: -9 (-2.66%)
Patrick: -6 (-1.63%)
Vinny: -5 (-1.23%)
TOTAL: -34

BLACK TEAM:
John: -15 (-3.68%)
Antone: -10 (-2.41%)
Sunny: -6 (-2.30%)
Jennifer: -6 (-1.93%)
Joe: -2 (-0.61%)
TOTAL: -39

BLUE TEAM:
Mike: -7 (-2.36%)
Becky: -5 (-2.19%)
Bonnie: -3 (-1.20%)
Johnny: +2 (+0.64%)
TOTAL: -13

In the deliberation room, it was really no contest. Even though Bonnie seems to be lagging behind, Johnny's gain got him the rest of his team's votes sending him packing.

Now at home, Johnny has lost more weight, and he's enjoying life! He looks excited to be down a couple L-Bs, and he's for sure not eating any more mini donuts.
