Sheena from America's Next Top Model Cycle 17

by Mike Bandy

On last night's Top Model All Stars, Sheena, the stunner from Harlem who made it all the way to the top 6 in cycle 11, was eliminated from the competition. The judges said that her amazing, full-of-flavor personality wasn't coming through in her photos. We caught up with Sheena to talk about her time in the competition, what she really thought of the hot dog photo shoot, and what's coming up next for her!

Q. Mike, RealityWanted: If you could have chosen the word that best represents who you are, which word would you have chosen and why?
A. Sheena: I would have chosen "Sheenafied!" I actually told the [brand strategist] that and he laughed. I think it's another definition of "unexpected" actually!

Q. Mike, RealityWanted: The makeovers last night weren't very exciting! You looked fantastic, as always, but it didn't look like they really did much to you, or to most of the girls. Is there a makeover look you'd have loved to receive?
A. Sheena: Absolutely not, if anything, the only makeover I wanted done was to make up for what they did to me last time, which was mess up my hair! And you know, I watched that clip [where a piece of my hair was in the sink] and it said "Not approved by Tyra", and that's a lie, because everything is approved by Tyra. I know for a fact she approved of my makeover, and that was just shady to me. She knows what she did.

Q. Mike, RealityWanted: Last night, you said that an asian contestant has never won top model, and that it's harder for you because all of the high-fashion models are working in Asia right now. Do you think that you'll have a difficult time in the industry after your appearance on All Stars, or will you have an advantage?
A. Sheena: I'll definitely have an advantage - as far as asian models, they do better overseas, but I'm not working in the high fashion industry. I'm more commercial, so it's good for me. I came back because I'm an entertainer and I wanted to showcase that.

Q. Mike, RealityWanted: Did you make any lasting friendships with any girls in the house? Also, if you could have brought back one other girl from your cycle, whom would you have brought back?

A. Sheena: Yeah, I got along with every single girl, and everyone was very cool. The only people that started tension was Bianca and Camille, because they had their own little thing going on. [From my cycle] I definitely would have brought back McKey! [When we were on] she didn't get a chance to be seen for the person I know her as, and we would have been such an odd couple. Together, we're something else!

Q. Mike, RealityWanted: I have to say, the photo shoot was one of the weirdest things I've ever seen on top model. Hot dogs?? A little out there. I thought you looked fantastic, as always, but tell me - what did you honestly think of last night's photo shoot?
A. Sheena: Actually, I didn't think it was weird; I love turkey hot dogs, and I had a great time eating it and decorating it, it was a blast! It's not high fashion, and I thought it was really great! I was happy that my hair was all in my head, and I loved my dress, and I think I did really well. Me and the photographer really connected and joked around, and I was one of the good ones - I was getting real messy! I loved my photo, and I thought that it portrayed Free more than Kayla's did. I was debating saying something about it at panel, actually. I don't know why I got eliminated, but you know, they can't take nothing from me or add to me, and everybody has their own agenda.

Q. Mike, RealityWanted: What's coming up next for Sheena?
A. Sheena: Well, I have a new show coming out on the Halogen network, and it's called Noble Exchange. I hosted in Peru and went on a journey to show the country's beauty and strength there and comparing it to America. Everyone can keep up with me on Twitter, @SheenaSakai, and of course on www.sheenafied.com! Oh, and I'm working on some music projects, singing in nightclubs in new York, and acting. Things are definitely coming up! I'm always optimistic, and I stand by that, and that'll speak for itself.
