We've seen quite a few designers come and go this season on Project Runway, and Joshua Christensen is no stranger to the process. Today, he spoke with RealityWanted in a conference call to discuss his second round on the show.
Q. Lindsay, RealityWanted: After being invited back into the competition for a second time, did you come with a different game plan?
A. Josh: Not really. I was surprised to be a part of it again, but more than anything else, it was important for me to do the best I could do and just have fun doing it.
Q. Lindsay, RealityWanted: Thinking back on the original painting you had to work with, do you have any ideas now on what you would have liked to do differently?
A. Josh: I definitely stand by the design as it was. I obviously had a problem at Mood and didn't have enough fabric. I was planning on doing something different, and if I had more fabric it might have turned out different. I really liked what I did though.
Q. Lindsay, RealityWanted: How did the pressure change for you coming into judging after being eliminated once? Do you think you were judged differently at all?
A. Josh: I knew from the minute I got back on the show they were going to find a way to get rid of me again. I wasn't there to win the show, I was just there to be me and do the best I could do. But I knew they didn't like me and wanted me off.
Q. What did you think of Bert's design?
A. Josh: Oh, Bert. You know, I appreciate the creativity but the look was just so awkward. It was goofy, it was silly. It didn't really give off an emotion. Heidi seemed to like it and that's all that really seems to matter in the end.
Q. What did you think of the winning garment?
A. Josh: I thought it was terrible. It really was just poor quality, and as much as I can appreciate the thought behind it, it looked terrible.
Q. Did you walk away with any lasting friendships?
A. Josh: Most definitely, yeah! I still talk regularly to quite a few of the contestants. I watched the episode where they voted me back and I was quite impressed that so many people really seemed to want me there. Everyone is so talented and wonderful and I think I'll be connected with them for a long time.
Q. Do you think things would have turned out differently if you had a different painting to begin with?
A. Josh: The painting that I had was by far the coolest. I feel so bad because maybe I let her down. I was extremely happy to have that painting, she was so talented.
