Lawon Exum from Big Brother 13

by Gina Scarpa

Perhaps he felt he needed to make a big move in the game of Big Brother, but it's still unclear as to why Lawon thought volunteering himself to go on the block was a good idea. He was unanimously voted out last night, only to turn around and face Brendon in a competition to get back into the house. Brendon won, and Lawon was officially out. Today, we talked to the always entertaining houseguest in an exclusive interview about his time in the Big Brother house.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: What made you want to do Big Brother?
A. Lawon: What made me want to do Big Brother is the simple fact that it has always been on my "40 year old bucket list" and just see how the experience would change my life and see how it is being in the house versus watching it on TV. I have always been a fan of the show.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: What was your strategy going in and how did that strategy change when you found out you'd be working in pairs initially?
A. Lawon: My strategy changed a bit, but not really. I went into the house wanting to lay low, so it was good to know that the partner I had had the same agenda. But she started to make deals while we were partners which I was told of later on, so the other houseguests always kept an eye on us. It kind of kept me safe, which was good on my end, but playing with a partner changed the game totally. Kalia told me that when she realized everyone liked me, she didn't have a chance, so she started making deals and tried to get away from me.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: The newbies had the numbers to pick off the veterans. Why didn't they?
A. Lawon: I think it was because of fear and everyone had their own game agenda from day one.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: Some people felt you were a floater in the house. Did you see yourself as a floater or were you aligned with Kalia and Daniele?
A. Lawon: I was playing the game, totally, since day one. I was more playing the game with Daniele than Kalia, because I value what she said more than I trusted Kalia. I was playing a social game at the beginning, but while I was with my duo, I tried to play the social game for us and we threw the competitions to lay low. I think I should have won competitions in the beginning, but unfortunately because we were in a duo I went along with that plan of laying low.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: Without fully knowing the twist, why did you volunteer to go on the block against Rachel? Did you feel you needed to make a big move in the game?
A. Lawon: Yes, I felt I needed to make a big game and that was my opportunity to do so, as a pawn. That's why I got so emotional in the game, I thought everyone would vote to evict Rachel really, because everyone liked me. But somehow that got construed as me volunteering to be evicted, and I tried to play off of that because we knew of there would be a twist.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: What was your reaction when you realized you'd be competing against Brendon to stay?
A. Lawon: I went in hoping to prove to myself that I could win a competition. So when I realized I would be going up against Brendon, I felt it would be a good competition. As it began, all the emotions of me being put up and me getting voted out 6-0 were going through my mind and I felt frustrated, not just about the eviction, but the whole situation, and it made me want to work harder to win. As the competition ended I was mad more at myself than I was at anyone else. It was a fair shot. I felt I disappointed at myself and that I disappointed Daniele. I wasn't as worried about Kalia. I felt what I was doing was not just for me but for my alliance and I was worried that after I left, Daniele would be a target.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: There was no interview or goodbye messages aired when you were eliminated. Are you bummed?
A. Lawon: I did do the interview with Julie and got to see the goodbye messages. They are available online at CBS.com.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: Good to know! Who would you like to see walk out the door next?
A. Lawon: I would hope to see Rachel go out next.
