This week's theme on The Glee Project was Believability and the contestants' homework assignment was "True Colors", one of my favorite Glee songs of all time! This time around, each of them will get to sing the whole song for Robert Ulrich and guest judge Jenna Ushkowitz (Tina).
Tina decides that Hannah was the most real and gives her her first win of the competition. She gets some one-on-one time with Jenna before the video shoot, which is set to Paramore's "The Only Exception". The video is set in a library and requires no choreography, which means less Zach - sad face.
In the recording studio, Alex breaks down, thinking about his father who passed away when he was young. Lindsay attempts to break down as well, because she can't let anybody have the spotlight for too long, but Nikki isn't buying it.
On set, each contestant must pine away for another... Hannah for Alex, Alex for Damian, Damian for Lindsay, Lindsay for Samuel, and Samuel for Hannah. With a camera close up in their faces, they had to rely completely on their acting ability in order to do well this week. Hannah was distracted because her crush Damian was in her line of sight while looking at Alex, Alex was very down and out about his dad, and Damian had some eyebrow issues. Lindsay doesn't evoke any emotions out of Zach, one of her biggest fans, while Samuel only has one look - the super intense stare.
Alex and Damian find out that they're both safe which is a relief them, since they've been in front of Ryan multiple times. That means Hannah, Lindsay, and Samuel (for the first time) must perform in order to stay. Hannah is given "Back To December" by Taylor Swift, Samuel is assigned "Animal" by Neon Trees, and Lindsay is asked to sing "Maybe This Time" from Cabaret, which she's never heard of.
After their performances, Hannah is told that while she's likeable and what Glee is all about, she's a less superior singer to Linsday and Samuel. Ryan bluntly tells Lindsay that he doesn't root for her and calls Samuel the least relatable of the three on this partiular night.
In the end, singing chops prevail as Lindsay and Samuel live to see another day and Hannah's name does not appear on the callback list. Was it the right choice?
