On last night's episode of Rocco's Dinner Party, Rocco made a bold move eliminated Nicola Carro first, leaving his twin brother Fabrizio to cook against New Jersey caterer Ninamarie Bojekian. The challenge was to create a tradiional Italian meal, something Fabrizio knew how to do well, and it earned him the win and $20,000. Today, we spoke to Fabrizio in an exclusive interview about his experience on Rocco's Dinner Party.
Q. Gina, RealityWanted: When did you and your brother open Quattro?
A. Fabrizio: We opened Quattro in 2006, in Miami Beach. I moved to New York in the beginning of 2010.
Q. Gina, RealityWanted: What made you decide to do Rocco's Dinner Party?
A. Fabrizio: They asked some questions, we asked some questioned, and decided it would be a cool idea. We wanted to compete with each other.
Q. Gina, RealityWanted: Are the two of you normally competitive?
A. Fabrizio: Not too much! The chance to compete with each other was like, "You know, let's see what happens."
Q. Gina, RealityWanted: I was surprised Nicola went out so early. I thought the episode was being set up for the two of you to battle it out.
A. Fabrizio: Yeah! I was surprised, too! The plate he presented, to me, was very good with taste and presentation. I believe it was better than the lamb, which was not nice to present. It was not my place to judge. I was sad. I feel like he was sad.
Q. Gina, RealityWanted: What did you think of Ninamarie's cooking?
A. Fabrizio: I'm Italian. I'm real Italian. Rocco asked me to cook real Italian food. She has a different background than me. I don't think she was right, mixing some of the ingredients.
Q. Gina, RealityWanted: Were you surprised that Rocco called your lasagna "flavorless"?
A. Fabrizio: No. I wasn't able to use my salt. I didn't get enough into my meat and my bechemel sauce. I would agre with him. It was difficult for me.
Q. Gina, RealityWanted: What was the best dish that you cooked?
A. Fabrizio: I really liked the fish. To me, chefs should be able to cook an entire fish as well as pairing it with a different sauce and potatoes. The fish was one of the best. Also, the appetizer set up.
Q. Gina, RealityWanted: You said, when you won, that you were going to use some of the money to go on vacation. Have you gone yet?
A. Fabrizio: We are planning to do something together but my brother just had a daughter. She's only three weeks old. We're going to wait until she can travel and we'll all go together.
Q. Gina, RealityWanted: What are you up to now?
A. Fabrizio: I'm in Miami and working on the restaurant. We just changed the menu and I'm doing that.
