This past Sunday, on the finale of Survivor: Redemption Island, Andrea defeated powerhouses Grant, Matt, and Mike to return to the game, only to be voted back out again by her Ometepe tribemates. After that, Rob convinced Natalie to turn on Ashley, her close friend, so that he could eliminate the biggest threat to beat him in the game. On the red carpet at the finale, RealityWanted's Michael Lamp spoke to both girls about their relationships with people on Survivor: Redemption Island.
Q. Michael, RealityWanted: When did you first start to question Rob's motives or intentions?
A. Ashley: It was right before I won my first immunity challenge. I had a feeling. They're talking behind my back. Someone's not being up front with me. I was like, ‘I need to win.' Good thing I did - and the next one as well. It proves that Rob saw me as a threat. He knew if I got to the end, that I'd kick his ass. I had formed closer relationships with people on the jury. That's what matters.
Q. Michael, RealityWanted: Where are things with you and Natalie now?
A. Ashley: We are good friends. Natalie will be my friend for life. She did stab me in the back. [Laughs] I will tell her to her face. I was pissed at her then, [and] watching the finale back, I got pissed again. It's hard not to, because those are real bonds. When that's broken, it's heartbreaking. I deserved to be there over Phillip and even Natalie. You go through it and it's all a blur. It goes by so fast. To have to watch it, it's emotional.
Q. Michael, RealityWanted: You had one of the dubious honors of being voted out twice. Which time hurt worse?
A. Andrea: The first time definitely stung. I had no idea. I trusted all these people. I got very comfortable. I've seen all the seasons. I was thinking, ‘Why didn't you see this coming?' The second time, I pretty much knew I was going home.
Q. Michael, RealityWanted: I have to ask what the deal is with you and Matt.
A. Andrea: I should ask him what he's saying. He's cute. He's awesome. We live far away, and we try to keep in contact. I'm single. I'm keeping my options open.
