American Idol Season 10

American Idol started off this week with the shows hardest round, the group round. Each group had one night to pick groups, one song and then the choreography and harmonies for that song. Many groups thought they would get a head start on the competition by joining forces and beginning rehearsals but that was before they learned the new rules; each group must have contestants from day one and day two.

Some of the groups had a difficult time finding members, while some people had a difficult time joining one. Tiffany dug herself into a hole when she insulted basically everyone else the last time she was onstage. No one would let her into their group. Jessica was nice enough to join her, though that might not have been in her best judgment.

One group named themselves "The Minors." This group was completely made up of well, minors. They were all 15 and 16 year-olds whose mothers were there with them. This upset many of the other contestants because the mothers were there helping them and coaching them on what to do.

The overly dramatic Ashley had a meltdown during rehearsals. She almost left the competition, but after some time of speaking it over with her boyfriend she decided to stay with the competition. Hopefully her nerves do not get the best of her during the competition.

More drama occurred as Jacee was kicked out of his group in the early hour of 1 A.M., but found hope in the Sugar Mommas who were desperately looking for someone from Day 2. Things worked out well for both parties.

At 7 A.M. all 39 groups were ready and preparing for this difficult stage in the competition. The first group slammed it and had nice harmonies, the judges said. All three of them made it through to the next round. The group 4 + 1 also had every member making it through. 440 followed the lead of the first two groups taking everyone to the next round.

The only duo group of Tiffany and Jessica hit rock bottom and were stopped before they even got half way through their song. Randy couldn't stand anymore, and sent them both home.

Spanglish had two members get through to the next level. We will be seeing more of Karen and Giovanni. Center Stage got creative by bringing Steven Tyler onstage while dancing around him, but that wasn't enough for all of them. Lauren was the only one to make it through. Colton Dixon will also be around tomorrow. The most disappointing part of the night for the judges was the surprising amount of contestants who forgot or messed up the lyrics to the songs.

The "Minors" all made it through to the delight of their parents. They were given a standing ovation from the judges. But is that fair since they got some extra help along the way that the other contestants didn't get?

Two groups attempted to sing a cappella tonight while only one made it work. The Sugar Momma and The Babies all made it through even though Jacee messed up his words. The judges sympathized with him because of his late exile from his first group and his quick memorization of a new song.

The Guaps, the group that kicked out Jacee, were amazing and every member made it through. The last group, Three's Company, had a more interesting performance. Rob forgot all the words to the song singing instead about how tired he was. The two girls in his group made it through but the male was left behind.

The remaining contestants made it through the hardest section of the competition. Do you think that it's fair for some groups to have the stage mothers helping them out? Or should everyone have the same advantage?
