Last night on The Biggest Loser: Couples, Alison started off the episode with yet another twist (which, by now, really should be expected on this show): since the people training with Bob and Jillian never had a shot at immunity, they have a chance to save themselves.
If, collectively, the 5 teams and Irene can lose more percentage of weight than the 5 teams with the mystery trainers (and who destroyed the ranch teams last week), they would all be safe from elimination. In addition, the winning group, either ranch or mystery trainers, would receive $10,000. Not to spoil the mood, but that's about $1,000 each--just saying.
During the workouts, you could tell everyone wanted it. There was more sweat and vomit this week than there was last week because everyone was pushing it to their maximum. The mystery trainers team even sent a box of donuts to the ranch to taunt those who were with Bob and Jillian.
It wasn't all fun and games, though. This week all the contestants met with resident Biggest Loser physician Dr. Huizenga for the "wake-up call" about their health. None of it was surprising, per se, but Dr. Huizenga always has a way of putting a spin on things that makes them seem extra dire, or just plain dismal.
As if the competition hadn't heated up enough, Alison also announced that the two groups of teams would be competing against each other in this week's challenge. The winning team would earn a three-pound advantage overall and contribute towards the competitive weight-loss percentage.
This week, teams had to build a bridge using rafts to get everyone from the beach across a canal to the other side. The mystery trainer group completed the challenge before the Bob/Jillian group did and they finished it fast. The Jillian/Bob group didn't really get the hang of it right away and lost, leaving them in an even more dire position.
Before the weigh-in (note: we still have not seen the mystery trainers or seen full clips from their side), Alison said they lost 79 pounds total. Add on the extra 3 and it became 82, or 2.46% total. Bob got upset when Alison used the word "destroyed" in reference to last week's beatdown (even though it was accurate), but the weigh-in continued:
Orange Team
Irene: -10
Purple Team
Olivia: -6
Hannah: -6
Black Team
Dan: -5
Don: -8
Aqua Team
Marci: -6
Courtney: -10
Green Team
Jay: -10
Jennifer: -8
Blue Team
Jesse: -8
Arthur: -13
Total weight lost: -90 pounds (-2.91%)
The victory was swift and decisive, giving the teams who are on the ranch hope that they're going to be just as successful with Bob and Jillian as the others are with the mystery trainers.
