Jane from America's Next Top Model Cycle 15

by Mike Bandy

This week, on Top Model, Jane, the 19-year-old Princeton student with stunning bone structure from Baltimore, was eliminated from the competition. Tyra thought her performance in the motion editorial was stunning, but the judges ultimately felt that she did not show enough personality. We talked to Jane about her time in the house, the challenge she hated the most, and what's coming up next for her.

Q. Mike, RealityWanted: Throughout the competition, the judges said that you didn't bring out your personality. Looking back, do you feel that you did not bring your personality out enough, or were you happy with the way you were portrayed?
A. Jane: I'm fine with my portrayal on the show, the fact that the judges decided that I didn't have personality, that's more a reflection of them than of me...they only got to see me at panel, I wish that they got to see me every day. I had very little interaction with the judges outside of the motion editorial shoot with Tyra. I think it was unfair of them to say with such authority that I had no personality, considering they only got to interact with me for five minutes during panel.

Q. Mike, RealityWanted: On last night's episode, you said that you were leaving this competition as a model. What sort of market would you like to work in most, and do you agree with Tyra's assertion that you'll make a lot of money?
A. Jane: I sure hope Tyra was right about a lucrative career! I'd certainly pursue commercial and high fashion, a lot of the makeup artists we worked with said that I should pursue beauty, and I'd definitely do that. Tyra said that sometimes being pretty is not a good thing [laughs], but I'm fine with any opportunity that comes my way.

Q. Mike, RealityWanted: You mentioned a few times that you're a history buff. Being in Italy, did you have any down time to do any research or visit any museums of historical value?
A. Jane: No, we were constantly busy. I actually found it rather humorous that they showed it so many times that I'm a history major; that was due to the Zac Posen panel, where I had to recreate a historical figure for them, and that wasn't shown on TV. The judges told me to use that as inspiration for my shoots, but I don't think that being a history major is going to make me a better model than the girl standing next to me.

Q. Mike, RealityWanted: Which photo shoot or challenge was your least favorite, and why?
A. Jane: The conveyor belt challenge was by far my least favorite - it was very dangerous. We had shoes that were too big for us, plus the speed of the runway was really fast - it's lucky that nobody got hurt. We actually had to do it twice, and some girls refused to do it a third time. Since that challenge, I won't even get on the conveyor belts at the airport. It scarred me! Poor Ann fell and had a hole in her dress, and I lost a shoe!

Q. Mike, RealityWanted: Are you still close with any of the girls in the house?
A. Jane: Yeah, I've kept in touch with a number of girls, especially the girls in the top four [with me]. Ann came to visit last weekend, I was texting Kayla during last night's episode, and I Facebook Chelsey all the time. I think I've made lifelong friends in the competition; I don't think we were necessarily a dramatic final four, but we're definitely good friends.

Q. Mike, RealityWanted: Other than yourself, who would have been your pick to be in the final two, and why?
A. Jane: Um...I really thought Kayla was gonna be in the final two. She had done a great job the past two weeks, and I thought she nailed the motion editorial. Obviously something happened in deliberations, but I really anticipated that she'd be there.

Q. Mike, RealityWanted: What's coming up next for you?
A. Jane: Um...I think my reality TV career has effectively ended! I'm waiting to hear from agencies and I want to pursue modeling. The feedback I get will largely determine what I do, but I'm definitely thinking of taking time off after this semester, in January, and pursuing modeling.
