America's Next Top Model Cycle 15

by Mike Bandy

Last night's Top Model began with Jane saying that she needs to show the judges more personality, Ann saying that she's tried to study and needs to step it up, and Chelsey talking about how she lived in Idaho and not much happens with fashion there. Kayla said that she's getting stronger in the competition, and going home is not an option for her.

The girls got a Tyra Mail, which said, "Modeling is 100% you and 50% who you know."

The next day, the girls meet Miss Jay, who talked about how important a first impression is. The girls met Barbara Terrinoni, an acting coach, who taught them how to be more expressive. She had them start by saying their names, and then took them through all sorts of emotions; happy, screaming, scared, and anger.

Miss Jay told the girls that they would be meeting an important client; the biggest that Top Model has ever had. The girls go to a building and take an elevator; every floor was a different magazine, but the top floor was Vogue Italia. There, they met Andre Leon Talley, and Franca Sozzani, the Editor in Chief of Vogue Italia. The girls had the challenge of presenting themselves to Franca, and whoever impressed her the most would get a special prize.

Kayla was up first, and she explained a lot of the photos in her book, Franca thought she was pretty but didn't have enough character. Chelsey was next, and spoke about where she's from and her past experience with modeling, Franca thought she had the most character and could make it as a model. Ann was quiet and shy, and Franca said she was more interesting in photos, and Jane was also a bit quiet, and Franca said she wasn't sure if she had enough character in her face to be a model.

ALT told the girls that the prize would be for them to go see the Last Supper by Leonardo DaVinci with him, and afterwards, they'd stay in a deluxe hotel suite in Milan. Chelsey won the challenge, and picked Kayla to go with her. They went to see the painting, and Chelsey said that it was a huge deal for her because she is Catholic. Meanwhile, Ann and Jane had a little party back at the house, where they ate dinner while looking at a small photo of the Last Supper that Ann drew. Chelsey and Kayla spent the night in their deluxe suite, which was right across from Gucci.

The girls got another Tyra mail, which said, "Movement creates energy, tomorrow you'll be models on the move."

The next day, the girls met Mr. Jay in Verona, and he announced that two girls would be eliminated at the next judging. Tyra showed up and told the girls that they'd be doing a motion editorial. She wanted the girls to show hardcore sexuality, pain, and fear. Overall, Chelsey had the best runway walk, Ann's awkward movements impressed Tyra, Jane's face standing out behind her hair made her a star, and Kayla gave great shapes in her silhouette.

Next up was panel, with guest judge Franca Sozzani!

Chelsey was very diverse in her shoot, but Tyra said she must be conscious of her arms. Jane's performance wasn't fluid or believable, according to Nigel, but Tyra thought her face was stunning. Ann was very photogenic, and Tyra loved her awkward movements, but her runway walk wasn't usable. Kayla had the most believable performance, and ALT said she grew into more confidence. Tyra said that Kayla must learn to watch her angles. Tyra then announced that the final two girls would walk in a runway show wearing Roberto Cavalli designs.

After deliberation, Ann was the first finalist called, and Chelsey, Kayla, and Jane were in the bottom three. The final girl called to be a finalist was Chelsey, and Kayla and Jane were eliminated.

Tyra told Kayla that she should act, and that she could be a big star. Kayla said that she's happy for how far she's come, she's gonna go home and kiss and hug her girlfriend like she never has before, she's proud of who she is, and will keep going.

Tyra told Jane to get signed with an agency and to practice, and she thinks Jane will make a lot of money. Jane was disappointed but happy she made it so far, and feels she left the competition as a model. She said that graduating from Princeton is not up for debate, but the year she does it is flexible.
