The Real World: DC

by Matt Anaya

We all saw what happened at the end of last week's episode of The Real World: DC, when Ty got too drunk and threw Andrew (who goes by the name Panda now) off of the porch. The fall was around five to ten feet, and although Andrew suffered only bruised ribs and a sore neck, there were more important implications.

Ty's aggressive nature is starting to scare a few of the roommates, namely Mike and Emily, and the others were appalled when Ty was laughing while Andrew was struggling to even move after the fall. Andrew was more than likely too drunk to move, but regardless, Ty should not have been laughing.

The next day, after Andrew came home from the hospital, Emily set up an intervention and all the roommates were in agreement about Ty's ridiculous behavior. Ty was very remorseful and sincerely apologized to Andrew more than a few times. Andrew actually had Ty's back during the intervention.

During the meeting, all the roommates stated their opinions and expressed how Ty made them feel uncomfortable when he drinks too much, and most accepted Ty's apology. Andrew accepted it long before the silly intervention, and the meeting was a sham, hosted by Emily, who is only upset at Ty's behavior towards her.

The rest of the roommates do not care how Ty acts, and will not babysit him like Emily wants, and by the end of the episode the group supported Ty, making Emily look silly. Emily was very upset at the fact that Ty said he would never drink again, and Emily was going to hold that against him. Most of the group agreed with Emily - none agreed that Ty should never drink again.

Although Ty said he never would drink, he was only trying to facilitate the meeting and express his deepest regrets about throwing Andrew off the ledge. Emily was overreacting and became flustered when all the roommates stopped caring about the topic as much as she did. Emily had a point but she also crossed the line and Tweeted late Wednesday night, "Lol I need to shut up sometimes."

Ty's behavior was unacceptable but it looks like he learned his lesson, but he did it his way and not Emily's, which made her upset.

Not much else happened in the episode as the focus was solely on Ty's behavior for most of the show. Ty started his internship with the Washington Capitals hockey organization. Panda's super dorky/silly/goofy little brother came to visit and if you thought Andrew was weird, wow, this kid might be more.
