Last week on Taking The Stage 2, there were a slew of romances blooming and impending heartbreaks. This week’s episode follows suit and falls nothing short of typical high school romance drama.
Adam is still dating bad girl Holly, but invites Emily to go to his show that night. There might as well be big “I love you” stickers plastered on both their foreheads. I really don’t understand why he won’t just leave Holly. Sure she’s pretty, but I don’t know how much is going on upstairs if you catch my drift.
Onto couple number two. Tyler is hooked on his own Emily, but doesn’t want to let go of the single life just yet. His friend Aris puts his situation in the perfect words—“You just want your cake and to eat it too, huh?” I’ll second that.
Later that night, best friends Anna and Emily get for Adam’s gig by choosing matching cowgirl outfits (Daisy Duke shorty shorts included, of course). They arrive to the show as Adam starts setting up and Anna immediately catches Carlton’s eye. He knows she has a boyfriend, but can’t help being attracted to her.
And whatdaya know, girlfriend Holly comes late to his show…but just in time for him to sing a love song dedicated to her. When he goes to sing the song directly to her, I thought my heart was going to break just from the look on Emily’s face. However, not all’s well in Adam and Holly’s paradise. Turns out Holly never broke up with her boyfriend like she’s been telling everyone. According to one of her friends, she is still dating her boyfriend and is very into him. Everyone is shocked by the news, although not necessarily surprised. Can you say two-timer?!
And isn’t this how it always works out—Adam is the last to know. After Carlton tells Adam the news, Adam decides to confront her and ask what’s going on. But she won’t even talk to him! After taking a few laps to blow off some steam, Adam returns with a vengeance. He calls her out in front of all their friends and states he’s “done with her and her games.” Good for you, Adam! I won’t lie, I joined in on the smirking that Anna and Emily were doing in the corner as they watched it all unfold.
Once everyone starts to leave, Carlton and Anna talk about the situation going on between Adam and Holly. Even though Holly isn’t Anna’s favorite person in the world, she doesn’t think Adam should have called her out in front of everyone. Carlton jumps on the chance to turn the conversation around about how much he cares for Anna…as a friend. Uh-huh.
While one relationship is reaching its breaking point, another is reaching its peak. Emily and Tyler practice dance in the studio with a side of flirting. They both admit that when their friends ask about their relationship they say that they’re dating. They decide, what the hell, let’s just make it official!
Back to the love triangle. The next day Adam tells Emily that he broke up with Holly after the show. He’s obviously still very upset and even more so by the fact that Holly doesn’t seem to care at all. Emily finally states the obvious and tells Adam that no one really liked Holly in the first place and that she wasn’t right for him (obviously secretly thinking, “but I am!”). If this girl doesn’t make a move on him soon, I’m going to drive down to SCPA and make a move on him myself!
Later that night, everyone starts getting ready for Anna’s bonfire. We meet Anna’s boyfriend, Mike, much to Carlton’s dismay. Obviously a very determined person, he still wants to find a way to find alone time with Anna. Unfortunately for him, she doesn’t want another Holly and Adam situation. I don’t know how long she’ll be able to resist Carlton’s charm, thought. He definitely gets her attention when he runs into the glass door—Smooth, Carlton…smooth.
The night ends with Emily and Adam taking a walk alone with sparks flying all around. They flirt a bit, Tyler and Emily cuddle under the stars and Anna and Mike enjoy the fire as Carlton watches. Hey, when is Ian’s shot at love going to come? According to the previews for next week’s episode, it’s not going to take too long at all. All I’m going to say is: Watch out Adam.
