“Throwing Shade”

This week on The Real Housewives of Atlanta, Lisa is searching for models for her clothing line Closet Freak. Her runway premiere is just around the corner, and Lisa seems to be a great delegator but it is coming down to the wire. Lisa has chosen Evelyn Lambert to design and tailor the clothes for Closet Freak and a few days before the show, Evelyn has 6 more pieces to complete. She has chosen a venue, in 595 North, and she has a handful of people helping her put the show together to make it a hit.

NeNe and Gregg are having problems with son Bryson and need to talk to him about his contribution to the household. Bryson has dropped out of college to be a club promoter and is not contributing.  Gregg wonders if they can just “put him on eBay.” NeNe lets Bryson know that he needs to return to school, oh, and she doesn’t like his hair. She invites Dwight over, to help Bryson with his hair.

Kim is shopping with her daughter Ariana and starting to realize that now that she is without Big Papa, she may have to learn to fend for herself. She meets with Derek J, a hairstylist who is designing her wig line, and they discuss what styles Kim would like to have created. The wigs are human hair, and Derek J styles them. He suggests that they have a wig party to find out what styles look good on different women, and what styles seem the most successful. Kim’s wig party is a success (aren’t you GLAD it’s not another clothing line?), until NeNe gets her hands on a blonde wig and starts to mimic Kim. Uncomfortable silence ensues…

Kandi invites music producer Don Vito to her place to hear what he has put together for the track “Tardy For The Party”. Don feels “booby trapped” when Kandi tells him it is meant for Kim and NeNe to perform. After a few minutes, he concedes though, because they can “make anyone hot”.

Sheree invites Lisa for a visit to her place. They make small talk, but really it seems like Sheree is just attempting to size up Lisa to see how serious Closet Freak is going to be. After Sheree’s disastrous (unintentionally clothing-free) fashion show, she keeps running into problems.  Sheree is insisting that it was NOT a fashion show, only an introduction to She by Sheree and that she DID have sketches at the event, but as Lisa and Sheree get to talking, Lisa tells Sheree, if it were her, she would have cancelled the event. Of course, Sheree is slightly offended, as usual. After all, as far as Sheree is concerned, Lisa is a “copy cat”.

Sheree gets more bad news, after asking for a…ahem, Maybach, to pick her up for an event, Mercedes and the event coordinators are pulling out. They feel the She by Sheree fashion show might be “too big”. It’s a wonder Sheree can see for all the smoke from her burning bridges.

Luckily for Lisa, the one thing that she doesn’t copy is Sheree’s failed launch party. Her runway show is a success. Albeit, as Dwight says of the show, the clothes are a bit lackluster. In defense of Lisa though, her line is intended not as couture, but as an affordable line of clothing. Weirdly, Dwight seems to be offended that he wasn’t included in the planning of the fashion show. Hmmm….this guy enjoys riding coattails. NeNe, Gregg and Dwight attend the show, and there is an empty spot where Sheree should have been.

Later, Sheree shows up, 2 hours late. Tracy Sipp, Lisa’s stylist, calls Sheree out on it, as she is coming in. Sheree is offended, saying that her son had a concert. Sheree is her usual snide self, criticizing that no one was dressed up for the show, and she didn’t like Lisa’s outfit. Meanwhile, Sheree was wearing jeans…and who could forget, if her fashion debut for She by Sheree would have gone this far, the models would have been naked.  Tsk-tsk Sheree…
