Tonight, Hell’s Kitchen returns to FOX, complete with the Gordon Ramsay we all know and love. However, after five seasons of the show, the chefs for season 6 are prepared for whatever Chef Ramsay throws at them. Based on the clips of what’s in store, it looks like it’s going to be an absolutely shocking and explosive season, from injuries to face offs to one chef threatening to fight Ramsay. The 16 chefs arrive and given a few tips from previous contestants before the competition gets underway. You’d hope that these chefs already know these things, such as: always taste your food before you serve it and make sure you actually put the oven on before cooking.
The men and women are divided into teams and present their signature dishes. So many of these people are overconfident and defensive and this is just Day 1. Very few people earn favorable reviews but Tek, Tennille, Tony, Jim, and Van manage to get a few sweet nothings from Chef Ramsay. The men end up pulling off a win and get to dine out while the women stay behind and clean up that disgusting mess of a kitchen.
The first dinner service in Hell’s Kitchen would probably make any chef nervous but Ramsay has ordered new menu items and has zero patience for people who can’t keep up with him. I’m no chef but I can’t figure out why a group of people who specialize in food can’t manage to get one single appetizer out. Damn, these women are struggling and not exactly representing us well! Not that the men are getting off any easier. They may have gotten their appetizers out but things slow down when it’s time for entrees. Dish after dish is thrown out by Ramsay on the blue and red side of the kitchen. He finally has had enough with Louie and kicks him out… not just out of the kitchen, but the competition entirely!
Ramsay heads out to the diners and sits down with Robert, a season 5 chef who had to leave early due to health problems. He asks Robert to return to the competition, who quickly jumps at the chance to get back in the game. When the chefs are brought back together at the end of the night, it’s no surprise that the women are the losing team. Melinda and Amanda are nominated for elimination. Good choice, ladies. Though Amanda didn't seem to know the difference between a fridge and a freezer, it's Melinda who is eliminated first. Robert is placed on the women's team to help them out. Let's hope it works.
Hell’s Kitchen airs Tuesday nights at 8pm ET on FOX.
