Member George Martinez of MTV’s A Shot at Love 2

We tracked down another one guys!  We scored an interview with George Martinez of MTV’s A Shot At Love Season 2. George started the casting process after reading a posting about A Shot at Love on RealityWanted.com. He dished out some great casting tips and tossed out some info on Tila Tequila, maybe George is her baby’s daddy? Grab a Red Bull and take a look below.

Q. Mark, RealityWanted.com: George, so glad we finally had the chance to chat. I know you couldn’t talk about the casting last year since you were under contract.
A. George Martinez, A Shot at Love 2: I wanted to reach out to you guys when I first found out I landed a role on the show last year, but once you get into the casting process you sign a few contracts and can’t talk about things.

Q. Mark, RealityWanted.com: I totally understand, we have members who ask the status of certain shows that are in production or who made it from the site, but they don’t understand the network wants to announce the cast when it’s ready and not have any spoilers hit the web.
A. George Martinez, A Shot at Love 2: That’s the case.

Q. Mark, RealityWanted.com: When did you start looking into Reality TV gigs?
A. George Martinez, A Shot at Love 2: I started applying to the Real World when I was 19.

Q. Mark, RealityWanted.com: So how long did it take before you hit the TV screens?
A. George Martinez, A Shot at Love 2: I landed on A Shot at Love when I was 21.

Q. Mark, RealityWanted.com: Have you always wanted to do TV?
A. George Martinez, A Shot at Love 2: I have wanted to get into acting or modeling since I was young, but my family didn’t support it. When I was 18 I made up my mind and started trying out for The Real World.

Q. Mark, RealityWanted.com: Did you ever get very far with Real World casting?
A. George Martinez, A Shot at Love 2: I made it into round 3 of The Real World Australia.

Q. Mark, RealityWanted.com: Round 3, I bet that was tough when you got clipped.
A. George Martinez, A Shot at Love 2: It was a huge let down, but I didn’t give up.

Q. Mark, RealityWanted.com: I think anyone who reads this should go back and reread what you just said. People give up applying after shooting in applications to one or two shows.
A. George Martinez, A Shot at Love 2: If that’s the case, then they’re not cut out for this business.

Q. Mark, RealityWanted.com: So from a guy who has been through Real World casting and also made it on a show a year later, how do you handle things after you go to an open call or get a call from a casting director?
A. George Martinez, A Shot at Love 2: You go back and live your life, if it’s meant to be and you’re what they are looking for you will hear back. If not, wait for the next show you’re a fit for and apply to it.

Q. Mark, RealityWanted.com: Sounds pretty simple, but some make it so complicated.
A. George Martinez, A Shot at Love 2: I was persistent, I tried out for several shows over a three year period. Think about how many people don’t even apply since they assume they don’t have a chance. Without applying you have absolutely no chance.

Q. Mark, RealityWanted.com: Well said, many people make it easier for guys like you.
A. George Martinez, A Shot at Love 2: 100%.

Q. Mark, RealityWanted.com: Hit us up with some other tips or things you witnessed during casting.
A. George Martinez, A Shot at Love 2: As cliché as this sounds, be yourself. Don’t put on a show or act like someone you aren’t.

Q. Mark, RealityWanted.com: By the way, how did you run across our little world?
A. George Martinez, A Shot at Love 2: I was googling for “reality casting” and RealityWanted popped up. Later I saw the posting for A Shot at Love 2 and applied.

Q. Mark, RealityWanted.com: Did they call you after you applied?
A. George Martinez, A Shot at Love 2: Later that night I received an email asking me to come to Miami the next day.

Q. Mark, RealityWanted.com: After you met with casting what happened?
A. George Martinez, A Shot at Love 2: They told us all if they liked us we would get a call in two weeks.

Q. Mark, RealityWanted.com: Of course you got that call.
A. George Martinez, A Shot at Love 2: They called and asked me to come to LA. I went through a psychological and physical background check. I went back home and was told I would hear back later if I was still in the process.

Q. Mark, RealityWanted.com: How many weeks went by before you heard back from casting?
A. George Martinez, A Shot at Love 2: It was about four weeks.

Q. Mark, RealityWanted.com: Since we know what happened after that, what about Tila Tequila? You said you were on 7 out of the 10 shows. Do you still talk to her?
A. George Martinez, A Shot at Love 2: We don’t talk. I respect her, but in some ways I don’t.

Q. Mark, RealityWanted.com: How so?
A. George Martinez, A Shot at Love 2: Basically the entire cast helped make her show work.  When we had the reunion show she didn’t bother to appear.

Q. Mark, RealityWanted.com: Did you hear the news about Tila yesterday?
A. George Martinez, A Shot at Love 2: No, what news?

Q. Mark, RealityWanted.com: Tila is pregnant, she posted a notice on Twitter.
A. George Martinez, A Shot at Love 2: I had no idea.

Q. Mark, RealityWanted.com: The news stories are talking about how she wants the dad to come forward.
A. George Martinez, A Shot at Love 2: She doesn’t know who the father is?

Q. Mark, RealityWanted.com: I hope she has some sort of idea, I think she just wants him to come out and talk about it.
A. George Martinez, A Shot at Love 2: (joking) Well, Tila should call me and we can tell everyone I’m the baby’s father.

Q. Mark, RealityWanted.com: I’ll twitter your interview so she can read this and call you up.
A. George Martinez, A Shot at Love 2: Too funny.

Q. Mark, RealityWanted.com: As we wrap up this long interview, what’s the 411 on George Martinez today?
A. George Martinez, A Shot at Love 2: I am packing up and moving to Los Angeles in July. I am headed out there in a few days to scope out the place.

Q. Mark, RealityWanted.com: Are you moving for casting, modeling or more reality?
A. George Martinez, A Shot at Love 2: All of the above.

Q. Mark, RealityWanted.com: I’ll be out there in July, lets grab a workout and a beer.
A. George Martinez, A Shot at Love 2: Sounds good man. I hope all the casting tips have helped and let’s stay in touch.
