Salome Steinmann of Make Me A Supermodel 2

by Gina Scarpa

On last night’s episode of Make Me A Supermodel, the final five models were brought to the beach (in chilly New York) to compete in a swimsuit challenge.  Salome ended up with the best shot and won yet again but after the runway show, the judges didn’t seem too impressed with her.  She landed in the bottom with Sandhurst and while he lived to see another day, she was eliminated from the competition.  Today, she spoke to RealityWanted in an exclusive interview.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: How much modeling experience did you have, prior to coming on Make Me A Supermodel?
A. Salome: Pretty much zero.  I have probably been to five photo shoots.  I’ve never seen a runway or walked a runway.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: Were you surprised by how well you did on the show, considering there were other people there with more experience than you?
A. Salome: Yeah, it made it clear to me that it’s not about what you know but how quickly you learn.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: Was there anyone that stood out to you, right away, as people who would be your biggest competition?
A. Salome: From first glances, I thought that Jordan and Sandhurst were going to be my biggest competition.  That was before I saw Jonathan’s body!

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: Is it difficult to compete against men on Make Me A Supermodel, since they wouldn’t really be your competition in the modeling world?
A. Salome: That is one of the things that made it more difficult.  Depending on the photographer, they may like to shoot men better or women better.  You not only have to produce the best picture but the best vibe.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: At the beach photo shoot, it seemed that the models were getting very conflicting direction from everyone.  Was that frustrating?
A. Salome: You kind of have to go with the flow, no matter what kind of shoot you’re in.  More than one person is going to be giving you direction and there’s a hundred things you have to keep in mind.  The clothes are what you’re selling but you’re also selling yourself.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: Are you surprised that you went home, especially considering you won the photo challenge?
A. Salome: Well, you know, it’s down to the final five.  I thought I’d be in the bottom with Branden.  He’s been in the bottom at least four times.  I figured I”d go against him and maybe I’d have a chance.  When I saw it was Sandhurst, I knew I was going home.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: Did it bother you that so many comments were made about your body?
A. Salome: What people don’t realize is that no matter what job you choose, there are rules you have to follow.  In modeling, the biggest problem for most people is the weight.  I chose this industry.  I accept the fact that the designers make the clothes in certain sizes.  I’m okay with my body the way it is.  In the industry I’m in, I have to lose some butt.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: You did so well in so many of the photo shoots this season.  Do you have a favorite picture?
A. Salome: My favorite picture was the nude shot or last night’s swimsuit shot.  The photographer that affected me the most was Howard Schatz because he convinced me to get over my fear

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: Now that your time on the show is over, do you plan to continue pursuing modeling?
A. Salome: Oh definitely!  This is just the start for me.  I realize how much I love it now and I can be good at it if I put my mind to it.  I plan on moving to New York and plan on going overseas.  I’ve had a lot of offers from people to fly me overseas for a magazine shoot.  This has been a great experience!
