The second episode of The Real Housewives of New Jersey begins with Jacqueline and her 17 year old daughter Ashley. Ashley is a bit rebellious and according to Caroline, Jacqueline’s sister-in-law, sometimes Jacqueline doesn’t want to “fight the fight”. Ashley is behind on her grades, and Jacqueline is worried that Ashley is not prepared for her finals. Jacqueline is also preparing for her 6 year old son CJ’s, birthday party.

Teresa is shopping for matching outfits for her 3 daughters, for CJ’s birthday party. She gets a phone call from her daughter Gia’s agent, letting them know that Gia has landed an audition for a feature film with Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. Teresa takes Gia to acting classes to prepare for the audition.

Danielle meets Jacqueline for lunch to rehash the feud that is going on between Danielle and Dina. Danielle wants to smooth things over with Dina, because she feels such a connection with Jacqueline, who is Dina’s sister-in-law.  Meanwhile, Teresa checks in on the progress of the dream house she is having built.

The day of CJ’s birthday party arrives. Jacqueline and Danielle are preparing for the guests to arrive. Jacqueline has gone overboard for the birthday party, with a Carnival theme, including a petting zoo, pony rides, carnival games and a bounce house. Christine, Danielle’s 14 year old daughter, has caught word that Ashley has invited 20 of her high school friends to the party. Jacqueline and Danielle confront Ashley about how many teenagers she has invited, and instruct her to call them back and disinvite them.

During the party, Danielle looks for an opportunity to speak with Dina to attempt to clear the air with her. When Danielle approaches Dina, she gives her a long hug and apologizes to her. Dina is noticeably uncomfortable and later says that Danielle is obsessed with her. She is not sure whether Danielle wants to “be her” or “skin her and wear her like last year’s Versace”.

Caroline cooks a big dinner for her family, and at the table the family is discussing daughter Lauren’s (20) career aspirations. The consensus seems to be that Lauren should go to beauty school. As Caroline says “What she does is her own choice, but we expect her to be the best Lauren Manzo there is.” Lauren shares with her family that she is afraid her hands will hurt and she will have to touch “hairy guys”. The next day, the family sits down to discuss some contacts Albert Sr. has with people that own salons and spas. He is going to try to help Lauren get in contact with people to find out if this is what she wants to do.

Danielle is having financial problems because she has yet to receive her divorce settlement, and says that her husband “gets off on watching her beg.”  Jacqueline goes to a fertility specialist after 4 miscarriages.   Dina is interviewing for a new assistant that not only has to help her with her upcoming charity event for her foundation “Project Ladybug” but also has to run her personal errands too, including washing her Sphynx (hairless) cat and buying tampons.

At the Ladybug Foundation charity event, Dina admits she goes into “work bitch” mode, and has enlisted the help of Ashley, Jacqueline’s daughter, but “fires” her after she is missing in action. She then puts Jacqueline to work. Jacqueline is upset, as she expected to be a guest for the event, but after a heart to heart with Teresa in the restroom, she decides to keep the peace in the family, and helps Dina out.

Meanwhile, Danielle, (who, according to Dina was “too cheap” to pay for the ticket to the charity event) goes on a date with Steve, 20 years her junior. Her daughters help her get ready and see her off. While at dinner, Danielle asks Steve if he wants to sneak into the bathroom with her. And then laughs it off.
