It seems that there is really no point in trying to predict what is going to happen on American Idol this season anymore. On practically every elimination episode so far, something has happened that has evoked reactions from me, ranging from raised eyebrows to jaw on the floor. Last night's reaction was somewhere in between. Things got started with a Top 4 performance of "School's Out For Summer", with Slash on the guitar. Daughtry showed up to debut his single from his second album, which hits stores in July. Oh, and Paula Abdul gave a performance as well, in which she attempted to look (and sound) like Britney Spears. It was strange but we wouldn't expect anything less from Paula.
On to the results...
The Top 4 waited nervously backstage until Seacrest called them out to reveal the first person who would be heading to the Final 3. Those three people will get to go home this week for a hometown parade, which must be quite the unforgettable experience. That first person moving on was... Kris Allen! The shock on his face was evident, especially considering the way that the judges ripped him apart on Tuesday night's performance episode. I can't help but be happy, though. Though I realize that he is not the best singer in the competition, he's the person whose album I think I would be most likely to buy so I'm going to keep rooting for him.
The next person to join Kris on the couch was his supposed rival, Adam Lambert. The two looked friendly and gave each other (what looked to be like) a sincere, congratulatory hug. That left Danny and Allison and only one would be moving on. As they stood there, I thought there was no way Danny was going home... and I was right. Allison was eliminated from the competition. Over the last few weeks, she really grew on me. It wouldn't surprise me in the least if she quickly got a record deal but hopefully, she chooses the right people to work with, stays true to herself, and makes an album that is truly her!
Be sure to watch American Idol when the Top 3 take the stage, Tuesday at 8pm ET on FOX.
