Today had the opportunity to speak with Robyn Kass, the casting director for CBS's Big Brother 11. She took the time giving applicants some pointers when applying and putting together their audition videos and general tips about open casting calls.

Q. RealityWanted.com: If you’re not picked for this season do you save information for another season?
A. Robyn, Casting Director Big Brother 11: No, we encourage you to keep auditioning.

Q. RealityWanted.com: What is the biggest mistake you can do during an in person interview?
 
A. Robyn, Casting Director Big Brother 11: Lie. Don't "try" to be controversial- we can read right through it. But on the other hand, if you have beliefs that are non traditional we want to hear them.... even if you think you're offending us- DO IT!

Q. RealityWanted.com: What is the best way to make a video? What do you want to see from us?

A. Robyn, Casting Director Big Brother 11: I don't want interviews from your friends and family, I want you. I don't look for fancy editing or effects. The best advice is don't rehearse your video! It should come natural, if you screw up, don't delete that, it shows a real side to you that we love.

Q. RealityWanted.com: Is it ok to apply more then once such as going to an open call then sending in a video?

A. Robyn, Casting Director Big Brother 11: I'd suggest doing one or the other, but it won't hurt if you decide to do both.

Q. RealityWanted.com: Does it help to send gifts with the application?

A. Robyn, Casting Director Big Brother 11: NO!

Q. RealityWanted.com: Is it better to send in the application early or wait until the deadline?

A. Robyn, Casting Director Big Brother 11: The earlier the better. We have more time to go over everything, the days before the deadline, we get flooded.

Q. RealityWanted.com: If I am called to send in more information does that mean I will be called back again?

A. Robyn, Casting Director Big Brother 11: Nope, it means you probably didn't send everything needed to apply.

Q. RealityWanted.com: What is the best photo?

A. Robyn, Casting Director Big Brother 11: A photo that really looks like you. Don't send one from 10 years ago when you were 20 lbs lighter and more hair. Send a good clean close up and a full body.... you should be SMILING. No hats.

Q. RealityWanted.com: Do I really have a chance? So many people apply many of us assume we don’t have a shot.

A. Robyn, Casting Director Big Brother 11: This is a ridiculous question. People have to remember, thousands of people apply for the show every season and only 12 - 14 make it every year. That's the bottom line. You have to keep trying. We choose people for the show from the people who apply to be on the show. You won't get on if you don't apply, bottom line. We watch every single tape that comes in, we read every email and watch every open call. If you want to be on the show- apply.
