Posted on 03/26/2009 by RealityWanted in Americas Next Top Model and Cast Interviews
We recently had the opportunity to speak with Joslyn Pennywell from Americas Next Top Model Season 11 who applied through RealityWanted.com and got cast for the show!
Q. RealityWanted.com: So you are originally from a small town in Louisiana, what made you want to be on America’s Next Top Model?
A. Joslyn Pennywell, America’s Next Top Model 11: I have always wanted to be a model since I was 13 years old. I had tried 36 times since cycle 2, I would go from city to city and tryout at the open casting calls. I always wanted to be on the show and not being on it wasn’t an option. When season 11 was casting, I signed up at RealityWanted.com and applied through the site. I received a call from the casting director working on the show and they gave me an appointment to come in and meet them. I went in earlier than the normal line, so I got extra time with the casting director and ended up getting cast for the show.
Q. RealityWanted.com: We have a lot of members that tell us they applied for a show but didn’t make it and were thinking about giving up, what advice do you have for them?
A. Joslyn Pennywell, America’s Next Top Model 11: I have a great family and great support system. I have belief in myself and I kept going at it. Of course after being rejected over and over it was hard but I kept pursuing my dream, I really wanted it. It is obtainable if you really put your heart into it.
Q. RealityWanted.com: What a great success story. I understand you made it to the top 7 contestants, how did that feel?
A. Joslyn Pennywell, America’s Next Top Model 11: I learned a lot about the industry and it’s hard work. The competition wasn’t easy but I was able to learn from Tyra Banks and had watched the show for years so I was able to learn some good tips prior to going on the show. Making it to the top 7 was great!
Q. RealityWanted.com: Would you change anything if you had to do it all over?
A. Joslyn Pennywell, America’s Next Top Model 11: I feel like everything happens for a reason, the experience taught me a lot and has given me some great opportunities.
Q. RealityWanted.com: So what advice do you have for applicants thinking of trying out for America’s Next Top Model?
A. Joslyn Pennywell, America’s Next Top Model 11: Be yourself. Simplicity works. I didn’t have a bunch of jewelry on when I interviewed with the casting directors. They are looking for different personalities and people that can be successful models. Go in confident and don’t be nervous.
Q. RealityWanted.com: So what are you up to now?
A. Joslyn Pennywell, America’s Next Top Model 11: I am living in California now and though it is a tough industry, I have a strong backbone. I am considering signing with a company to do some bridal modeling.
Q. RealityWanted.com: Where can fans find you if they want to see what you are up to?
A. Joslyn Pennywell, America’s Next Top Model 11: They can find me on Facebook or on RealityWanted.com http://www.realitywanted.com/joslynpennywell
