Alexis Grace American Idol

Many American Idol fans were confident that Alexis Grace would not only make the Top 10 and the tour this season, but that she may even go Top 5 or higher.  Perhaps that was the problem, then.  On this week's live results episode, fans (and Alexis herself) were shocked when she was named the person with the lowest number of votes.  She took the stage to perform her rendition of Dolly Parton's "Jolene" but Simon Cowell simply stated that the judges unanimously felt that it wasn't enough and they would not save her.  Following her elimination, Alexis spoke to reporters in a press conference call and opened up about her song choice, the album she'd like to put out, and who she thinks could win American Idol.  Read on to find out her thoughts.

On choosing a song for country week…
I had a couple [songs in mind].  I did consider doing a Carrie Underwood song, but there were already two other people who sang Carrie Underwood, so I felt that it would be too much Carrie Underwood in one night.  So then I went with “Jolene” because that was a really beautiful song.  I loved the lyrics.  I like the singer and so I thought it was a good song for me to do.

On how she felt about the judges saying they considered using their veto on her…
It was flattering.  I was really happy. I just wish that I could have done a better job than I did.   But in all honestly, I don’t know if they still would have chosen me, just because it’s so early in the game.  I feel like they would probably want to use the save for later on in the show.

On not getting to go on tour…
I’m really disappointed about that.  I would have loved to have gone on tour, especially with all those guys.  I’m really close with them and I know that they’re going to do really well.  It would have been fun to do some duets with some of those people, too, but there will be other tours.

On what kind of album she would like to put out…
I think kind of like some soul mixed in with blues and country.  I kind of like the three combined together.  Maybe some, I don’t know, like Jaw Stone mixed with like Carrie Underwood with Sheryl Crow or something like that.

On whether a boy or a girl will win American Idol…
Yes, you know, I don’t know.  There are a lot more boys than girls, so the percentage is higher, but that doesn’t mean anything because America votes, so it could go either way.  I have no idea.

On what she learned from American Idol…
I learned that if you want to do anything in life, if you want to pursue a dream, that you have to work hard at it and believe in yourself for one thing and just have fun with whatever it is that you want to do.  And remember everything and just the little cliché things that you could say, it’s really true.

American Idol returns Tuesday at 8pm ET on FOX.
