On this week's episode of The Biggest Loser: Couples, teams felt sympathetic for Carla, who was eliminated on last week's episode.  Her partner, Joelle, lost no weight at the weigh-in and some said that it was unfortunate that Carla was stuck with a teammate who didn't put out an effort.  Mike and Ron, the brown team, met together to try to figure out why they weren't dropping big numbers at the weigh-in.  They know that if they don't start bringing themselves above the yellow line, they'll be headed home soon enough.

Host Alison Sweeney surprises the contestants with their very first pop challenge.  The players immediately head outside to the pool and some fear a swimming challenge in store.  Not the case, though.  Players will have to stand on a block on one foot for as long as they can.  The winner will receive 24 hours with a loved one at The Biggest Loser ranch, a prize certainly worth playing for.  Mike and Ron went out first and players started dropping like flies.  When there were only 4 or 5 players left, Mandi began begging people to step down so that she could see her husband.  One by one, each player stepped off and Mandi was named the winner.

Afterwards, Bob visited with his team and seemed happy that the players decided to send the silver team home.  He also pulled Mike and Ron aside, certain that he knew why they weren't dropping big numbers at the weigh-ins: they weren't eating enough.  Without a strong metabolism, the weight just won't come off.  Meanwhile, Jillian sits with her team and is unhappy that Mandi won the challenge.  She worries that a visit from Mandi's husband will spark feelings on guilt in her for leaving him and her children behind.  Jillian predicts that the visit will hurt Mandi in the competition, not help her.

In the immunity challenge, players had to hold a bar up in the air as long as they could.  If one player's arm dropped too low, a red light would go on and their team would be eliminated.  The blue team, who got distracted early on, were the first team out.  The green and purple teams were the last two left in the competition and the purple team pulled off a much needed win.

Mandi's husband, Rusty, came to visit and surprised her with her two children.  The family headed to the gym, walked a mile, and got to see what a day in Mandi's life has been like since coming to the ranch.  When it was time for them to leave, Mandi said that she saw a vulnerable side to Rusty that she had never seen before.  In his interview, Rusty admitted that if he could, he would just take Mandi home with him right then and there.

At this week's weigh-in, Alison revealed that only one team would fall below the yellow line.  Players would then have to decide which teammate to send home.  Here are the numbers:

• Kristin and Cathy: 2 pound gain + 3 pound loss = 1 pound loss (immune)
• Helen and Shannon: 5 + 5 = 10 pound loss (2.16%)
• Laura and Tara: 3 + 11= 14 pound loss (2.85%)
• Filipe and Sione: 10 + 11 = 21 pound loss (3.37%)
• Blaine and Dane: 4 + 5 = 9 pound loss (1.41%)
• Mandi and Aubrey: 6 + 1 = 7 pound loss (1.57%)
• Mike and Ron: 13 + 5 = 18 pound loss (2.59%)

Mandi and Aubrey narrowly escape falling below the yellow line.  Had the purple not won immunity, they would have been the ones up for elimination but it is the black team who now faces sending one of their own team members home.  After the weigh-in, Blaine tells the players that he wants to be the one to go home but some want to keep him in the game and send Dane home instead.  In the end, everyone decides to respect Blaine's wishes and they send him home to reunite with his family and continue on his weigh loss journey independently.  To date, Blaine has lost a total of 86 pounds and is currently planning to compete in an Ironman challenge before The Biggest Loser's live finale.
