The Bachelor 13

By: Mary Cavaliere

I always say if you get more than three women in a room there is going to be some cat-scratching going on, and this week’s episode of The Bachelor certainly proved that.

There were two one-on-one dates this week and one group date leaving two ladies who didn’t get to experience either (Lauren and Molly).

The first individual date was with Stephanie and Jason planned a birthday spectacular for Stephanie’s little girl, Sophia.  It was beautiful to watch their reunion and it was obvious that Jason and Tye would fit like a glove into their already built family.  BUT Stephanie, I feel, is just way too conservative for Jason.  I thought when she finally had the chance to show him how she felt about him she’d kiss him the way he likes to be kissed which is passionately.  Instead she kissed him timidly and with conservative prudishness.  So as sweet as she is, and as much as she might be a good match from a family perspective, I don’t think she’s going to be able to keep Jason interested.

The other individual date was with Natalie, someone who Jason DID feel passion with.  With a million-dollar necklace intact on her neck (just for the date of course), Jason jetted her off to a helicopter that took them to Las Vegas for a private concert with Kate Vogel.  I don’t’ really know who Kate Vogel is, but I can tell you if she was singing in the background of my date it would have flattened the mood.  An artist who sings off key is comparable to nails on a blackboard to me.  It was obvious to the audience that Natalie is not for Jason.  She’s too young, too immature, too materialistic, and too self-absorbed.  That is not mother material, especially step-mother material.  I say this because when a child is not your own it takes a great deal of personal character to be able to make that adjustment and make the child feel loved and not allow a competition for the man’s attention to surface.  I was relieved when Jason saw that Natalie was not deep enough for him, and he didn’t give her a rose.  It was then that he got to see her immature and ugly side as her little blonde bimbo ego got bruised. I’m sure being rejected is not something she experiences often, but anyone who thinks that highly of themselves needs to be taken down a peg.

The group date was the fun to watch.  Eight girls (Shannon, Naomi, Melissa, Jillian, Nikki, Erica, Megan, and Kari) participated in a project where each woman (as well as Jason) got naked from the waste up and created a cast of their bust.  Once dry and hardened, each girl got to paint their bust. This artwork would be auctioned off and all the money collected would go to cancer awareness.  Now that’s a great group date!  I called it before it happened, but Jillian received the single rose from the group date, and in my opinion that was the best choice Jason could have made.

One of the things that Natalie did before her departure was to tell Jason that there are some girls in the house that are not very nice that none of the other girls like.  Lauren revealed their names to Jason when he asked (Megan and Erica).  As Jason tried to dig for details a confrontation ensued between these three ladies and Jason saw all he needed to decide who would be going home.  Shannon got all emotional during the process to the point of making herself sick.  I’m right along with her, some of these girls do make you want to vomit, but unfortunately she is also one of them.   This is a very desperate girl and Jason needs to let her go home because there is no way he will end up with such an insecure and dramatic mess.

The rose ceremony was half predictable and half shocking.   Erica was sent home which was no big surprise.  The audience and the other ladies probably expected Megan to be the other woman sent home, but instead it was Kari who was not given a rose.   She probably is a really nice girl but she has been somewhat invisible during the show, and probably to Jason as well.  So Megan remains yet another week (sigh).

Here are the 9 ladies that remain:

Jillian – Restaurant Designer
Melissa – Sales Representative
Nikki – Administrative Assistant
Stephanie – Medical Marketing
Lauren – Teacher
Naomi – Flight Attendant
Molly – Department Store Buyer
Shannon – Dental Hygienist
Megan – Lacrosse Coach

The field is narrowing and honestly there is no one girl that blows my socks off that I feel is a perfect match for Jason.  My favorites are still Jillian and Melissa and Molly is moving up in the ranks, but hopefully we’ll get to see a few more one-on-one dates so we can really see who these girls are.
