Reality TV Convention In The News

The world's first Reality TV Convention is making headlines in newspapers across the United States. The event, which is scheduled to occur in Nashville, Tennessee on June 3 & 4, 2006, looks to be the largest gathering of reality TV stars and reality TV fans ever. Newspapers that have reported on the event include The Tennessean, Poughkeepsie Journal, The Jackson Sun, Florida Today, and Cincinnati Enquirer.

The Tennessean interviewed Joe Reality of Reality TV Magazine and Marc Ballard of Music City Conventions, who are the co-organizers of the Reality TV Convention. Joe and Marc revealed that around 100 reality TV stars will be appearing at the event, and they estimate that approximately 5,000 reality TV fans will attend.

The Tennessean quotes reality TV star Maurice "Moe" Walker from the Biggest Loser, who says ""If I'm not mistaken, this is the first time anything like this has been attempted. There's been Fan Fair (the CMA Music Festival) with country music. Now reality TV has just taken off. I look forward to meeting all of my fans out there." Burton Roberts from Survivor is also quoted as saying "...this will draw a ton of fans. I believe it's going to be an excellent event. . . . In my case, Survivor was an amazing experience. The least I can do is talk with fans who love to hear more about behind the scenes."

The Tennessean also notes that a crew from the Fox Reality cable channel will be at the event. Dave Lyle, chief operating officer and general manager of Fox Reality, is quoted as saying "We have a daily show, Reality Remix, which covers the world of reality, and so this could be the biggest gathering of stars of reality since the genre began. We certainly need to be there. We think the reality genre is as healthy as it's ever been." Fox Reality, which is dedicated to reality programming from all the major networks, goes into an estimated 18.5 million homes.

Tickets are currently on sale for the Reality TV Convention at www.realitytvconvention.com. A one-day pass to the convention is only $15 and a two-day pass is only $25.
