AMERICAN IDOL VISITS THE ROCK & ROLL HALL OF FAME
By: Mary Cavaliere
Right off the bat Ryan Seacrest asked Randy if he stood by his remarks to Syesha last night that made her cry. Randy cleared the air by telling everyone he spoke to Syesha after the show and she confirmed she was crying because she was touched by what Paula said, not because of anything that Randy said. So that’s that.
The Final Four opened the show singing Are You Reeling In The Years. It was decent. As usual I loved this week’s Ford commercial!
Most of the viewer questions this week made the Idols feel uneasy. One girl asked David Cook out on a date. It was daring on her part but did she really think he’d say yes on national television? Simon was asked why has he not been knighted by the Queen? Simon replied “I ask myself that on a daily basis. Your Majesty, if you’re watching I’m available.” He’s too much. Another caller asked Simon if he’s ever acted because she sees him as the next James Bond. What was funnier than Simon’s response was watching Howie Mandel laugh at the question (he was sitting right behind the judges and in the camera’s view).
Maroon 5 was the guest entertainment promoting their current tour. He warned the Idols about how much work was involved and how jaded they would become. What was more enjoyable, however, was the return of Idol’s Bo Bice. Loved the hair! He gave advice to the Idols too, but at least it was positive. He’s got a new album called See The Light coming out soon, and he also has another baby boy on the way. Congratulations Bo!
It was no big surprise that David and David made it through to the final three. I was praying Syesha made it through as well and was ecstatic when they said she was safe. I used to like Jason a lot in the beginning. He’s as cute as can be, and I know he wanted to translate how much fun he is, but honestly what came across more, especially in the last few weeks, is how he’s not the brightest bulb in the box. That, combined with his “I don’t care” attitude has been a big turn-off for me (and obviously for a few other viewers as well).
So the battle for the title continues, but at this point, it doesn’t matter who wins. The final three will be able to build a solid career in the music industry once the show is over. Good for them!
